Three days of rain and cold temperatures has postponed the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Bubba’s Army Winternationals for the third straight day at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, FL. An encouraging weather forecast for Friday and Saturday has led track and series officials to schedule three races in the next two days.

Friday’s race will now be a 50-lap $2,500-to-win race. There will be a double show on Saturday. On Saturday afternoon, the 40-lap $2,000-to-win race that was postponed on Tuesday night will be run. After the completion of that event, the grandstand will be cleared, and readmitted for a 50-lap $3,000-to-win evening race.

“The weather has just wreaked havoc at Bubba Raceway Park this week, as the winter storm that left snow and ice north of us has dumped a lot of rain here over the past three days, along with temperatures in the 30s,” NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Director Adam Stewart said. “We tried to put the grader on the track at noon today, and it sunk about ten inches into the track. There was no way we could get the track in a safe and competitive condition for tonight.”

The winter storm Stewart spoke of has affected race teams all week just trying to get to Florida for what was scheduled to be five straight nights of racing for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division to open the 2014 season.

“We had 39 teams signed in on Tuesday night when we rained out, but we had several teams that were still trying to get here through the snow and ice north of us,” Stewart said. “There were major interstates closed down in all directions. We know of several teams that couldn’t leave until this morning coming from Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.”
