Despite the fact Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA has experienced one of its wettest seasons to date, with over eight rainouts on the calendar, there are several drivers who have been going through a drought of sorts. Drivers who have been working hard week after week to claim that covenanted spot in victory lane, but falling just shy of the checkers. For two Hartwell residents, Brandon “Cornbread” Haley and John Teasley, that all changed this past Saturday as the sweet taste of victory rained down over them in the winner’s circle.

Haley decided he would not finish out his 2013 season without a victory of his own. Haley started on the outside pole alongside the current Limited Late Model points leader Shane Yarbrough. Haley would jump to the front at the drop of the green, leading a field of 10 into turn one and never looked back, capturing his first victory of the 2013 season. Yarbrough came home in second, with Bubba Russell in third, David McCoy in fourth, and Wesley English in fifth.

John Teasley took home his first career win in the Modified Street feature, holding off over a dozen competitors, including current Modified Street points leader Chris Jones, who gave Teasley a run for his money on several restarts. When the race was over Teasley enjoyed a small celebration on the hood of his car in front of the fans, where both friends, family and even fellow competitors congratulated him on breaking his long dry spell. Jones finished in second, with Clifton Snow in third, Tracey Parnell in fourth, and Doug Sellers in fifth.
