Jason Hiett Wins In Rome Speedway SLM Feature

Jason Hiett has made the trip to Rome Speedway in Rome, GA several times from Oxford, AL in his career, but Sunday was the first time luck held out for the racer as he came out on top of a three car race for the Super Late Model win.

Hiett was able to hold off Dillon Woods and Jake Knowles the entire distance as both made several challenged for the lead as well as racing each other for second. With the crowd cheering, Hiett crossed under the checkers for first while Woods nipped Knowles for second. Donald McIntosh once again found himself in the top five as he finished ahead of fifth place Doug Stevens.

In some of the best driving seen this year, Aaron Wilson held off Matt Dooley every lap of the Limited Late Model feature for the win. Dooley was able to put his nose under Wilson on the straights but was unable to shake the Chatsworth driver’s nerve and was forced to settle for second. Jason Williams came home in third followed by Mike McConnell and Jason Smith.

Hunter Jones finally broke into victory lane at Rome in the Crate Late Models as he held off a very strong Craig Reece for his first win. Reece setled in second as he in turn held off Colby Kilgore in third. Jason Jones followed in fourth with Lee Sutton getting the fifth spot.

Dan Meadows found his way to victory lane as he held off Shane Smith for the Economy Bomber win. Smith held second followed by Corey Wright, Chris Pilcher, and Ryan Ray.

Grady Stokes took home the win in the Pony Stock after the initial winner refused to be torn down after the feature ended. John Land, Ronnie Faucett, Brannon Knight, and Tex Holden completed the top five.

The Cruiser feature proved to be interesting, as Joe Trantham won the feature but had to hold off 11-year-old Cruz Skinner in the closing laps. Skinner held on to second followed by Jimmy Wilson, Todd Lankster, and George Wilson.
