Week 25 of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season saw Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA use a second-place finish on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO to net one point and take over the lead in the standings. Trosclair leads Chase Washington of Houlka, MS by one point in the battle for the $10,000 Championship.
Trosclair drove the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special to a pair of second-place finishes at Malden Speedway on Friday night to net on a 48. With two weeks left in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season, Trosclair now has 49s to net on his best 14-week point total of 797 points.
Washington, who was tied with Trosclair for the point lead going into Week 25 of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, finished third on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Jerry Inmon Racing Special, and did not net any points on his total of 796. Washington is also trying to net on 49s for the rest of the 2012 season.
The two drivers went head-to-head on Saturday night in Double Features at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Trosclair qualified 12th and sixth for the Double Features, but chose not to compete in either feature race. Washington came from the back of the field in both features to finish eighth in each race, but failed to net any points.
Ryan King of Seymour, TN, who is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 792 points, was trying to net on a 48, but finished third on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger and did not net any points.
The two drivers tied for the fourth spot with 790 points in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings, Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL in the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star, and Duke Palasini of Leland, MS in the Palasini Farms Special did not compete in Week 25 action.
Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS was able to net one point with a second-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park driving the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star and move to within one point of Shaw and Palasini in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings. Lee is sixth with 789 points.
Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS picked up his third win of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park driving the Billy Riels Racing/Reynolds Motorsports GRT. Arnold is seventh in the standings and was able to net two points that brings his best 14-week total to 786 points.
Brett Barrett of Cleveland, MS was the busiest driver during Week 25 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series action by competing in Double Features on Friday night at Malden Speedway and Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.
Barrett finished third and sixth at Malden Speedway on Friday night, and then drove the Custom Spraying GRT to ninth and seventh-place finishes at Whynot Motorsports Park on Saturday night. Barrett was able to net two points and is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 777 points.
Robby Moore of Brosley, MO drove the D&K Truck Repair Special to a pair of Top 5 finishes on Friday night at Malden Speedway to hold the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 775 points. Moore finished fifth and third in the Double Features to net seven points.
Kyle Berry of Portageville, MO drove the Berry Roofing Special to his fifth win of the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season in the first of two main events on Friday night at Malden Speedway. Berry was able to net six points and climb into the tenth and final points fund-paying spot with a best 14-week total of 769 points.
In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 25 action, there were three first time winners on the season and two drivers that picked up their fifth wins of the season.
Tait Davenport of Benton, KY drove the Murtco, Inc. Special to his first win of the season in the second feature race on Friday night at Malden Speedway. Mack McCarter of Sevierville, TN took his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway driving the CVR Race Cars Special.
Second-generation driver Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL topped a 29-car field on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park to take his first NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season driving the Boland Performance Trak-Star in the Week 7 Make-Up race.
Justin McRee of Cottondale, AL took his fifth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season in the second feature race of the evening at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the High Roller Race Cars Special. The 2010 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL posted his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL driving the Edge’s Gas Company Special.
Defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars continues to hold a three-point lead over two-time champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL. Arnold gave GRT their 31st win of the 2012 season. Boland gave Trak-Star Race Cars their 28th win of the season.
Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with 11 wins on the season and Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN is fourth in the point standings with eight wins on the season.
Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with five wins and TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is sixth and still looking for their first win of the season.
