Saturday night saw two big winners in Super Late Models at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA, as Tyler Millwood scored the feature victory, while Michael Page wrapped up the SLM championship title.

Millwood grabbed the lead at the start of the feature, only to lose it to Dale Thurman on lap two. From that point until midway through the race, the two fought for the lead many times side by side before Millwood took over the top spot for good.

While all eyes were on the race up front, veteran racer Ronnie Johnson steadily worked his way into the top five in the final half of the feature moving into the second position before running out of laps. Griffin, GA’s Doug Stevens fought the entire race to keep his third place finish holding off a hard charging Donald McIntosh in fourth. Lamar Haygood had started the race in fourth and fell out of the top five early on managed to recover and bring his ride home in fifth.

Points Awards were handed out Saturday night in all Divisions and Douglasville’s Michael Page took the Track Championship for the second year in a row. Page became only the third driver in the tracks forty three year history to accomplish that feat joining Jody Ridley (1973-74) and Stan Massey (1981-82, 1986-87).

In other action, Cass Fowler used his start on the outside front row to grab the lead in the Limited Late Model race and drive his way to the win for the second week in a row. Oliver Gentry gave chase but came up short in the end and settled for second. Mark Bunch followed in third chased by Jake Herrell and Zack Pilcher in fourth and fifth.

While only managing a fourth place finish in the feature, Jake Herrell of Villa Rica took home the division points championship.

Phil Coltrane also made it two wins in a row in the Crate Late Model feature Saturday. Austin Smith, making only his third appearance of the season at the track, followed in second. Completing the top five were Mark Page, Hunter Jones, and Craig Reece.

Craig Reece was crowned the Division Point Champion.

The Super Bomber feature would once again see Kirk Atkins visiting victory lane as he lead Kenny Taylor, Andy Morris, Tim Ford, and Terry Vollrath to the checkers.

Kirk, driving the only Dodge powered racecar at the Speedway, was awarded the Super Bomber Points Championship.

Shane Smith took the Economy Bomber win after the apparent winner was DQ’d in post race inspection following the feature. It was Smith’s sixth win of the season. Following Smith to the Checkers were Doug Hopson, Birthday boy Rob Johnson, Gooch Spriggs, and Ricky Lathem.

Smith took the feature as well as the Economy Bomber Points Championship.

Jeremy Millsaps got his first win of the season in the Pony Stock feature managing to keep ahead of Ronnie Faucett, Landon Bagby, Jeremy Ray, and Eric Granger at the finish line.

While Shannon Etheridge took a rare finish out of the top five in the feature, he took home the Pony Stock Points Championship.

The Cruiser feature would see Brian Dempsey take the checkers while the Points Championship went to Jimmy Wilson.

With the 2012 season winding down, next weekend, September 15,  Dixie Speedway will be once again holding their Fall Championship races for all divisions.
