Michael Page Makes It Two In A Row At Dixie Speedway

Michael Page for the second week in a row took the Super Late Model Feature in the closing laps Saturday night at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA.

With the drop of the green flag, Jordy Nipper took the point and looked to be on his way to a sure win as he took a substantial lead on the field. Behind him, Page spent much of the race battling to hold on to second from Dale Thurman.

Just as in last weeks feature, a caution on lap 27 put the field in a double file restart with three laps to go. As the Green flew, Page once again made his move on the high side passing Nipper on lap 28 for the lead. Nipper was forced to settle for second while behind him Chattanooga’s Ronnie Johnson made a rare visit and raced his way into the third spot in the closing laps. Thurman made his way to the line in fourth followed by Luther Jenkins.

In other action, Mark Bunch went flag to flag for the win in the Limited Late model feature taking his fifth win of the season. Rucker Orr followed in second holding off Scottie Pritchett, Oliver Gentry, and Jake Herrell to complete the top five.

What a difference a week makes in the Crate Late Model Division. Last week, Craig Reece was involved in a wreck that sent him flipping down the backstretch. This week, Reece took the lead in the feature and led flag to flag for the win. Reece was chased by the father and son team of Chuck & Mark Page who were unable to mount a challenge for the lead settling for second and third in that order. Rounding out the top five were Dustin Rogers and Steven Hite.

Roy Patterson took his fifth win of the season in the Super Bomber feature. Daniel Brewer gave chase but settled for second followed by Bobby Hill. Kirk Atkins and Andy Morris completed the top five.

After a few weeks off in the Economy Bomber class, Justin Shipley returned to the Division in fine fashion taking the win over point leader Shane Smith. Greg King held on to third followed by Carl Richards and David Burtz.

Ronnie Faucett took his first win of the season in the Pony Stock race. Faucett held off the strong running Shannon Etheridge in second follwed by Eric Granger, Tery Baxter, and Von Casey.

Edwin Scott and Wes Chavez made their way to their seventh win of the year in the Cruiser class race.

Action returns to Dixie Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 1, with a full racing program plus a demolition derby.  For more info, visit www.dixiespeedway.com.
