Michael Page made the late race pass for the lead, and turned it into another Super Late Model feature victory at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA.
Luther Jenkins took the pole and then the lead in the feature, and looked to be heading for victory lane, leaving the rest of the field to decide the rest of the top five. Through out the feature, second through fourth positions seemed to change every lap between Michael Page, Preston Graves and Dale Thurman. Page settled into the second spot and began to chase down Jenkins, never seeming to gain any ground until after the third and final caution of the night.
With the restart, Jenkins seemed to be taking a commanding lead once again when Page moved to the high groove and begin to reel the leader. Page made his way around Jenkins on lap 28 on the outside to take the lead. Jenkins was unable to challenge and forced to settle in second, closely followed by Preston Graves in third. Dale Thurman regained the fourth spot, passing Frank Ingram in the closing laps and leaving him to complete the top five.
In other action, Jake Herrell looked to have clear sailing for the Limited Late Model win until his motor let go on lap 11. This handed the lead over to Scottie Pritchett, who led the way home for the win followed by Cass Fowler, who started dead last in the feature. Oliver Gentry followed in third with Jimmy Price trailing in fourth for his best finish of the season. Michael Brewer rounded out the top five.
The Crate Late Model Championship would see Hunter Jones lead the way and survive a post race protest to get his first ever victory. Unfortunately, due to the protest, the complete results were not available at press time.
The Super Bomber feature would see Kirk Atkins in Victory Lane after the initial winner was light at the scales after the race. Daniel Brewer moved up to second followed by Wormdog Baxter, Chris Boyd, and Blake Smith completing the top five.
Ricky Lathem held off Dan Meadows for his second win of the year in the Economy Bomber race. The rest of the top five were John Binger, Shane Smith, and Carl Richards.
Travis Smith held off all challengers in a very close finish of the top five finishers in the Pony Stock Feature. Jeremy Ray followed in second with Jeremy Millsaps, Ronnie Faucett and Eric Granger completing the top five.
Brian Dempsey took the win in the Cruiser feature.
Action returns to Dixie Speedway on Aug. 25 with a full racing program and a burn out contest. Visit www.dixiespeedway.com for more info.
