Sometimes in racing, winning isn’t the most important thing. That was never shown to be more true than last week at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC in the B-Mini Stock feature.
Dylan Hall took the lead as soon as the green flag dropped on the race and pulled to a two car length advantage, holding it until lap eight. At the end that lap, Hall’s car lost traction, which allowed David Darnell to close, and over take him. Once out front, Darnell led the remainder of the laps and picked up his sixth victory of the season. Dylan Hall finished second. Spanky Hicks finished third. Ben Kay finished fourth. Ryan Howard finished fifth.
Before the race, Darnell requested that the race be a no points race for the B-Mini Stock division because his friend and rival Chad Campbell was unable to race due to the death of his mother on Thursday, August 2. All the drivers agreed that no points would be awarded in memory of Mrs. Campbell. Following the race Darnell was choked up when he offered his condolences to Chad Campbell and his family and stated that the B-Mini Stock drivers were a family and would always be there for one another.
In other action, Dylan Hall scored the victory in the C-Mini Stock race. Ryan Howard grabbed the lead on the first lap of the race and had pulled to a two car length advantage and held it until lap six. On lap six the rear end of Howard’s car got away from him and this allowed Hall to close on his rear deck lid. On lap seven Hall went by Howard to take the lead which he held the remainder of the race. The victory was the ninth of the season for Hall. Ryan Howard finished second. Avery Burgess finished third. Brandon Segars finished fourth. Trae Leppard finished fifth.
Austin Northcutt scored the win in the B-M Modified division. Casey Tucker led every lap of the race and received the checkered flag. By lap 10 Tucker led by almost a half a lap, and when the checkered flag dropped he held over a straight away advantage over Northcutt, who crossed the finish line in second. Following the race Northcutt lodged a protest against Tucker but Tucker refused to accept the protest and tear down his car so the official victory was awarded to Northcutt. Bryce Malcolm finished second. Beany Gillespie finished third. Mark Burdette finished fourth. Tim Stokes finished fifth.
