In 2011 ARCA/CRA Super Series defending champion Johnny VanDoorn suffered through a year that saw him finish only one race, a win at Winchester Speedway in Winchester, IN. In 2012 he is back to his winning form taking his second in a row to build on his lead in the point’s championship with a decisive victory at Winchester Speedway in the Winchester 100 Saturday night.
Peter Cozzolino started on the pole of the Winchester 100 after EDCO Welding Fast Qualifier, Terry Fisher, Jr., drew an eight for the invert. Cozzolino took off for the lead, as the cars ran side by side until an accident on the seventh lap put second place driver Johnny VanDoorn (who had started sixth) next to him. VanDoorn took the lead on the restart and never gave it up as he ran out for the victory. Scott Hantz chased VanDoorn down in the last few laps as VanDoorn’s car started to get loose but was only able to get to his bumper as the cars crossed the line. Cozzolino finished third, Eddie Van Meter fourth and Nick Gullatta fifth.
“I owe this crew a huge thank you. We didn’t start working on getting this car ready until Wednesday after the Rowdy.” VanDoorn stated. “They worked real hard and it was a great car.”
Fisher earned only his second career fast qualifier award, but was forced out of the race on the 22nd lap after he had moved to fourth when his u-joint gave out.
Mason Mingus earned the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award when he saved his car, keeping it on the track and ending up pointing the right way after nearly turning it around early in the race.

Moving up 12 places, Brent Jack earned the Lane Automotive/ISKY Racing Cams Hardcharger Award and one of the Hoosier Racing Tire Performance Awards with Nick Gullatta receiving the other one.
The Boyne Machine Company Rookie of the Race Award went to Brent Robinson who finished in seventh place. This was his first Rookie of the Race Award and second Top Ten finish in a row.
Hantz earned the VDL Hot Lap of the Race Award for turning the fastest lap under green flag conditions. VanDoorn took home the Turn One Lap Leader Award for leading the most laps. He also received the RaceTrailerSales.com Halfway Leader Award.
