Toby Porter Pads Points Lead With Greenville-Pickens Win

Greenville-Pickens Speedway’s track champion points leader Toby Porter padded his lead over Marty Ward, taking the win by leading every lap. But for the entire 40-laps at the Greenville, SC speed plant, Porter had a mirror full of Ward. The two cars battled the entire race, with Ward managing to get alongside several times, but never able to make a clean pass.

“Marty was especially tough tonight,” Porter said in victory lane. “His car was a little better than last week and my car wasn’t as good. I just managed to hold him off.”

Bob Root ran a steady third place, and Blair Addis was fourth. Jack Ingram was fifth. Maxie Bush, Tasha Kummer and Corie Smith was sixth through ninth, respectively.

Ryan Walker had no problem winning the Truck division main event, leading from start to finish. There were only two trucks in the race, and Walker jumped out front when the green flag fell. Gene Burnett was the second-place finisher. Walker was already the division points leader, with a 102 point edge over Michael Altop, and the victory puts him a very large edge.

Kyle Ballew took advantage of a last-lap altercation with Tad Price to win the Renegade  main. Ballew and leader Price were involved in a racing accident coming out of the second turn, and while Price spun and ended up 12th, Ballew went by on the outside for the victory.

Scotty Tyner was second, with Brad Burns third, Travis Cox fourth and Bobby Emory fifth.

Andy Norris had complete control in the Charger main, taking the checkered flag in front of James Johnson. Michael Mote was third, with Mike Mote fourth and Bryan Davis in fifth.

Tyler Gibson didn’t have any problem leading the Street Stock main event and taking the checkered flag. David Rader was second, as Mark Gibson and Freddy Hale, Jr., completed the field.

Tommy Davis, Jr., held on despite everything Ray Mullinax could do and won the four cylinder divsion main event. Buck Simmons finished third, with Austin Heil fourth and David Rader was fifth.

Greenville-Pickens Speedway will take the next two weekends off, with action set to return on July 14.  Visit GreenvillePickens.com for more information.
