Action Heats Up In NeSmith WRS Week 9 Competition

After a three-night race weekend with up to 75 Bonus Points in play, the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings has once again been shuffled after Week 9 competition.  Brent Barrett of Cleveland, MS is the new point leader with an 11-point advantage over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS in the battle for the $10,000 Championship.

Barrett picked 50 Bonus Points on Friday night and Saturday night by competing in the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park and Whynot Motorsports Park before finishing fifth on Sunday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS to being his total to 519 points in the Custom Spraying, Inc. GRT.

Lee earned 25 Bonus Points by competing in the Touring Division race at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park on Friday night, and then he finished fifth on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS driving the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star.  Lee now has 508 points, and can still earn another 25 Bonus Points.  Barrett has reached the maximum of 100 Bonus Points,

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS earned 50 Bonus Points by competing in the Touring events at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park and Whynot Motorsports Park, and then picked up an additional 41 points by racing on Sunday night at Greenville Speedway in the Henderson Waste and Recycling Trak-Star to move up to the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings.  Jordan now has 498 points and has earned his 100 Bonus Points for the season.

Mickey Trosclair of Luling, LA took his tenth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in the J. Dunning Sandblasting and Painting Special, and added an extra 25 Bonus Points on his season total of 483 points by competing in the Touring event on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park.

Trosclair is in the fourth spot of the standings and can still earn another 25 Bonus Points.  Scott Ladner of Lumberton, MS is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 481 points.

Ladner drove the Billy Riels Racing GRT in the Friday night Hattiesburg Motorsports Park Touring race to earn 25 Bonus Points, and then finished second on Saturday night at Pike County Speedway to earn another 49 points.  Ladner can still earn an additional 25 Bonus Points.

Ryan King is Seymour, TN is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 470 points.  King finished third on Friday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the Brian King Roofing Stinger.  King can still earn 50 Bonus Points, and can pick those up this weekend in two NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division will be at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA on Friday night for a $2,000-to-win 40-lap event, and then on Saturday night it’s the $4,000-to-win J.T. Kerr Memorial 40 at 411 Motor Speedway.

Daniel Bridgeman of Meridian, MS drove the Robinson Electric Rocket in the Friday night Hattiesburg Motorsports Park and Saturday night Whynot Motorsports Park races to reach his maximum of 100 Bonus Points and settle into the seventh spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 462 points.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader going into Week 9 competition, Tony Lawson of Hattiesburg, MS, decided to keep his Lawson Construction Special in the garage over the weekend, and dropped to eighth in the standings with 451 points.  Lawson has already earned the maximum of 100 Bonus Points.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS earned 25 Bonus Points on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park and is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 430 points driving the Billy Riels Racing/Reynolds Motorsports GRT.  Arnold can still earn another 25 Bonus Points.

Chase Washington of Houlka, MS rounds out the Top 10 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings after Week 9 competition with 418 points.  Washington finished second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Jerry Inmon Racing Special,

Washington then traveled to the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS where he added 25 Bonus Points to his season total.  Washington can still earn another 25 Bonus Points.

David Crabtree of Maryville, TN opened Week 9 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition on Friday night at 411 Motor Speedway with his second win of the season driving the Smoky Mountain Brewery Special.  Kyle Bridges of Moultrie, GA drove the Bridges Auto Service Special to his second win of the season on Saturday night at Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA.

Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN grabbed the $1,000 top prize with a win on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports driving the TS Race Shop GRT.  Chris Noah of Rainbow City, AL notched his fourth win of the season in the Stephen’s Express Mart Special on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Joey Thomas of Seale, AL drove the BTR-Scorpion Race Cars Special to pair of wins on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL.  The fourth win of the season for Thomas came in the May 12 make-up race, and his fifth win of the season came in the Week 9 main event.

Roger Witt of Batesville, AR posted his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO driving The Chrome Shop Special.  John Cobb of Loudon, TN took his first win of the season on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN in the NAPA Auto Parts Special.

The lone Sunday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series event at Greenville Speedway was won by Bubba Harrison of Cleveland, MS in the Robinson Electric GRT.

Two-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL leads the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with 12 wins in the first nine weeks of competition.

Defending and four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is second after Newman and Harrison gave them their seventh and eighth wins of the season in Week 9 competition.

Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN are tied for the third spot with three wins apiece.  Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is fifth with two wins, while TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is still looking for their first win of the season.
