Dale Thurman took the lead in the Super Late Model feature at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA Saturday night and never looked back as he went on to become the sixth different winner in as many weeks at the legendary track.

As Thurman led, most eyes were on 2011 Track Champion Michael Page as he was forced to the rear after getting tagged by another car while running in the top five.

Page raced his way back into the top five by lap eighteen and took over the second position on lap twenty seven but ran out of time before the checkers fell. Chip Brindle followed in third chased by Jody Knowles for fourth. Frank Ingram completed the top five after starting the feature in seventeenth.

Sixteen year old Matt Dooley of Brooks, GA drove to his first win of the season in the Limited Late Model race. Taking the lead at the green, Dooley was never challenged for the lead, but that was not from lack of trying by veteran driver Don Jenkins who was forced to settle for second. Jake Herrell followed in the third spot with Alan Brewer grabbing fourth from Oliver Gentry on the white flag lap.

Freehome’s Phil Coltrane made it two in a row in the Crate Late Model this week as he led Rick Hixson of Soddy Daisy, TN to the checkers in their feature. Henry Ward finished in the top five for the third week in a row coming home in the third spot followed by Chuck Page and former asphalt racer Justin Wakefield.

Roy Patterson took home the extra money in the Super Bomber Championship when he took the lead away from Daniel Brewer on lap ten on his way to the Checkers.

Brewer then found himself defending the second spot from Ketchum, AL’s Willie Winsome for the next eight laps.  Winsome grabbed the position the rest of the way leaving Brewer to settle for third. Andy Morris and Kirk Atkins rounded out the top five.

Chuck Padgett won the Economy Bomber feature after the apparent winner and second place racer was protested and found to be illegal. Padgett was followed to the line by Eric Hamby, Carl Richards, Rob Johnson, and Shane Smith.

J.J. Garrett took his first career win at Dixie Speedway in the Pony class feature as he led Travis Smith, Shannon Etheridge, Tony Harris, and Ronnie Faucett to the checkers.

Chris Neese and Jimmy Wilson drove side by side almost the entire race before Neese got out front for good in the Cruiser feature. The action was interupted briefly when the car of Daniel Ray slammed the turn one wall and began flipping. Ray climbed from the car uninjured and taking bows.

Dixie Speedway returns to action on Saturday, May 26, as the track celebrates its 43rd anniversary.  Visit dixiespeedway.com for more information.
