Hartwell Speedway Pauses For The Cause

It was a night like none other at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA this past Saturday as both drivers and fans from all over came together for one purpose – to Pause for the Cause, and celebrate the lives of those family members and friends that have been affected by this deadly disease. Drivers were also encouraged to participate by placing a memory boards honoring their lost loved ones on their car which were displayed during the victory lap.

Among those taking part was Wayne Bray from Colbert, GA. He has been diagnosed with terminal brain/lung cancer. He is a four cylinder driver. He led the victory lap with his son Daniel and friends Chuck and Carol Finch of Comer, GA.

Also in attendance was Debbie Beard, who rode in a victory lap on the side of her son Frankie Beard’s car.  Ms. Beard is fighting lung cancer.

In racing action, it was Comer, GA’s Bubba Russell storming his way back to victory lane in the Limited Late Model feature.  Russell outdistanced Parker Herring to score the win.  ‘Hot Rod’ LaMance ran third, with Brandon Haley and Brant Carey rounding out the top five.

David McCoy roared to the victory in the FASTRAK Late Model feature.  Ty Lowe finished second, with Frankie Beard third, Cla Knight fourth, and Kenny Collins fifth.

Paul Byrum scored the win in the Modified Street feature.  Justin Powell ran second, followed by Chris Jones in third, Mark Parham in fourth, and Richard Jones in fifth.

In the Stock V8 feature, Matthew Denton was the man to beat, as he sailed to the victory.  John Teasley ran second, with Joesph Tesley third, Otis Fleeman fourth, and Justin Mauldin in fifth.

Chris Wilson topped the field in the Stock Four Cylinder feature to record the win.  Cody Byrum ran second, followed by Jeffery Lord, Scott Hollars, and Dustin Bales.

In Young Guns action, Drew Collins scored the win, with Adam Partain, Jason Calhoun, Preston Strickland, and Travis Hubbard rounding out the top five.

Steven Powell came home with the victory in the Up Front feature.  Keith Hicks ran second, with Trey Chapman in third, Dave Ritto in fourth, and James Goodwin fifth.
