Michael Page Takes Dixie Super Late Model Victory

2011 Dixie Speedway Track Champion Michael Page took his first victory of the season as well as becoming the fifth different Super Late Model winner on the Woodstock ,GA speedway in as many weeks of the 2012 season.

Page started on the outside pole in the feature and grabbed the lead from the start and never looked back. The racing in question was for the rest of the top five. Veteran Ricky Williams had his best finish of the season so far bringing his racer home in second after pole sitter Luther Jenkins tagged the turn four wall ending his night. Tony Knowles followed in third with Mike McConnell and Lamar Haygood completing the top five.

The hottest action of the night took place in the Limited Late Model feature. Pete Cochran took the lead with Scottie Pritchett immediately pressuring him for the lead, while Alan Brewer, Chris Fennell and Oliver Gentry raced each other for the rest of the top five.

Pritchett spun on lap five sending him to the rear bringing Cass Fowler into the top five mix. This was to last two laps when Fowler and Brewer tagged each other on lap seven causing damage to both racers ending theit night. With the restart, Fennell began to challenge Cochran for the lead finally passing him in the late stages of the race.

Cochran immediately tried to grab the top spot back in turn three collecting both cars. Once the track was clear and the race restarted, Oliver Gentry took the point and lead the rest of the way for his first win of the season. Jake Herrell setlled in the second spot with Michael Brewer, Rucker Orr and Randall Powell rounding out the top five spots.

Phil Coltrane returned to racing Saturday with a victory in the Crate Late Model feature. Grabbing the lead at the start, Coltrane would hold off the a strong running Craig Reece for the win followed by Henry Ward, rookie Hunter Jones, and pole sitter Darel Ownbey holding on to the fifth spot.

The Super Bomber feature would also see its fifth different winner in five weeks as Timmy Millwood lead flag to flag for his first win of the season. Following Millwood was previous season winners Roy Patterson and Daniel Brewer finishing ahead of Willie Winsome and Andy Morris.

Shane Smith, of Rome, took his first career victory holding off any challenges to win the Economy Bomber Championship Saturday night. Dan Meadows brung his racer home second followed by Jasper’s Chris Blalock in third. Rounding out the top five were Cody Richards and Eric Hamby.

Shannon Etheridge started in twelfth position in the Pony Stock race and by lap seven found himself in the lead to take his second win of the season. Matt Thompson came home in second followed by Matt McCollum in a new car in third. Jeremy Millsaps and Tony Harris completed the top five

The team of Edwin Scott & Wes Chavez took win number two in the Cruiser feature.
