After winning his third Coors Light Pole Award in as many races, Ryan Preece finally converted it into his first win of the season Saturday night with a victory in the Whitcomb 200 presented by Mobix & Town Fair Tire at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH.

Preece led every lap and took the checkered flag 1.423 seconds in front of runner-up Doug Coby. Todd Szegedy, the 2011 race winner, finished third. Justin Bonsignore and Ron Silk finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Preece, was able to maintain the lead in the caution-filled event and credited his car owner and team for giving him the equipment to get the job done.

“Stan Szaban gave me an unbelievable car and this entire Flamingo Motorsports team is great and I am just so lucky to be a part of it,” an ecstatic Preece said in victory lane after his fourth win overall on the tour. “I am just so grateful for this opportunity to drive for this team.”

Preece also added his car was one of the best he has ever driven.

“Doug (Coby) said he had a perfect car last (race) and I feel I had a perfect car this week,” Preece said. “Once we got going I could just take off and I think I could have ran another 100 laps (out front).”

Coby, who entered the race coming off a dominating win at Stafford two weeks ago, said he tried to make a move on the outside but just ran out of room and laps.

“I could run with him a lap or two on the outside on the restarts, but I don’t really know the track well enough were I could make up ground,” Coby said.

“I tried to time the restarts so we could be even going in to turn 1 but he was just better than us and Todd (Szegedy) probably was too there at the end, but I listened to my spotter and just kept the car on the inside the rest of the race.”

Szegedy felt better after picking up a top-three finish and is glad his car ran well at Monadnock.

“We finally got a good finish after wrecking the past couple of races,” Szegedy said. “It’s great to finish in the top five and its good for the team and myself. I got to tell you I can’t stand running bad and I hate racing when you are wrecking and not running good. This is why we race because it is fun when you are running good.”

Silk, the points leader, maintained a one-point advantage in the standings over Coby. Preece is four points behind Silk.

Preece’s win and earned him a locked-in spot at the UNOH Battle At The Beach on the .400-mile oval at Daytona International Speedway next February.

The 21-year-old finished second (2009) and sixth (2010) in tour points before winning the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified Division championship last year at Stafford (CN) Motor Speedway. His previous tour wins came at Martinsville in 2008, and Riverhead and Stafford in 2009.

Donny Lia finished sixth at Monadnock, followed by Mike Stefanik, Eric Beers, Ed Flemke Jr., and rookie Keith Rocco.

Jerry Marquis started 15th in his first race on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour since 2007, but was collected in a couple of on-track incidents and was forced to call it a night early on lap 134 when suspension problems forced him to the pits. He finished 22nd

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will next race at the TSI Harley-Davidson 125 at Stafford on Friday, May 25.
