Following a successful first season of handling the promoter duties at the Tri-County Race Track, Ray Cook is eager to start his second year in charge of the Brasstown, North Carolina bullring.
Earlier this week, Cook released the full schedule of events for the 2012 campaign at the 1/4-mile oval. A pair of open practice sessions will be held on Thursday night, March 8 and Friday evening, March 16 prior to the 2012 Season Opener on Friday, March 23.
The schedule features fifteen programs in which all five of the main divisions at Tri-County (Super Late Model, Limited/Crate Late Model, Modified Street, Street Stock, & Stock 4 Cylinder) are in racing action.
In addition, Cook has also added five Competition Thursday nights that are sprinkled in throughout the year. On these special Thursday evenings, the track will be open for practice for any division, King of the Hill Match Races, and a complete show for the new Cruiser class.
“I am excited about the schedule that we released for Tri-County today,” Cook said via telephone. “We waited awhile to put it out, just to make sure we didn’t schedule on top of something else in the area. I was pleased with how last year went and I wanted to put together a strong schedule that would make both the racers and the fans happy. To get the track open a little more often, we came up with some Competition Thursday dates where fans and drivers can come out to the track for a low price.”
“There will be an open practice session early on those nights and then we may pay a little money for some King of the Hill Match Races or a Cruiser event, depending on how many and who shows up,” Cook added. “I don’t know how well (or not so well) that the Thursday night deals will go over, but I think it will be good for the track to be open a little more often and everyone can enjoy a cheap night of entertainment at the racetrack.”
