Mart Nesbitt took the lead six laps in, and would go on to lead the rest of the way to score the inaugural victory for the Southeast Super Truck Series at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC Sunday afternoon.
After passing Justin Sorrow on lap six, Nesbitt, of Swannanoa, NC, led the next 69 laps en route to the victory. Sorrow, from Belton, SC finished second. Kevin Leicht from Arden, NC finished third. Marty Ward from Marietta, SC, finished fourth. Jeff Myers from Weaverville, NC finished fifth.
Kenneth Headen won the Fast Qualifier Award with a time of 15.944 seconds. The top five were inverted for the start which placed Sorrow on the pole and Headen fifth. Headen moved up to third and appeared to be ready to move forward even more before he was involved in an accident which eliminated him from the race.
In other action, David Darnell claimed the victory in the B Mini Stock feature. Ben Kay led the first three laps before he lost the top spot to Matthew Gilbert. Gilbert, making his debut appearance in the B-Mini Stock division, led until lap twelve when he was passed by David Darnell. Once out front Darnell led the final eight laps and ended the two race win streak of Chad Campbell. Chad Campbell finished second. Matthew Gilbert finished third. Ben Kay finished fourth. Billy Hockman finished fifth.
Ryan Howard scored the win in the C Mini Stock feature. The C-Mini cars ran with the B-Mini cars in a duo race. Howard ran ahead of the other C-Mini drivers the entire race and picked up his first ever victory in the C-Mini Stock division. Dion Ciccarelle finished second, with Dylan Hall third, and Brandon Segars fourth.
In the Super Renegade feature, Barry Tollison picked up the victory. Tollison led every lap of the race on his way to the win. Barry Tollison, Jr. came from the rear of the field to finish second. Eddie Henderson Jr. finished third. Zach Pressley finished fourth. Whitey Suttles finished fifth.
Chad Watt was the first to the finish line in the Renegade feature. Jim Fitzgerald grabbed the lead at the start of the race but his time at the front was short lived. Blake Gregory took over the lead on lap two, and held the top position until lap seven when he slid high in turn two. This opened the door for Watt, who went by Gregory to become the third leader of the race. Watt was challenged by Don Christie for a couple of laps before Christie spun in turn four and had to drop to the rear. Once Christie was eliminated from contention, Watt held on to take his first victory in over two years. Blake Gregory finished second, while Matt Anders, Don Christie, and Jim Fitzgerald rounded out the top five.
Austin Northcutt scored the victory in the B-M Modified feature. Shan Gibson led the first two laps of the race before he relinquished the top spot to Casey Tucker. Once taking the lead, Tucker began to pull away while several drivers battled their way to the front. Once Northcutt moved into the second position, he began to reel in Tucker. On lap thirteen, Northcutt bypassed Tucker to take the lead. Tucker ran with Northcutt over the final laps, and closed on the leader the final lap but failed to over take him. But Tucker couldn’t overtake Northcutt, settling for second. Alan Mitchell finished third. Mark Burdette finished fourth. Shan Gibson finished fifth.
In the Front Wheel Drive feature, it was Chris Harvell coming home with the win. Harvell grabbed the lead at the start of the race and held off a hard charging Tommy Davis for the first nine laps. On lap 10, Davis passed Harvell on the high side and went on to receive the checkered flag with Harvell crossing the line in second. Following the race, Davis failed to pass post-race inspection and the victory was awarded to Harvell. Bradley Williams finished second. Travis Barbare finished third. CJ Hewitt finished fourth. Tim Ervin finished fifth.
Andrew Brown claimed the win in the 600 Legends feature. Rex Brown led the first ten laps of the race while several drivers battled behind him. Brown held a good advantage, but saw it erased by a caution. Early in the race Andrew Brown almost lost control of his car more than once while he exited turn four but on each occasion he held the car under him. Finally Andrew Brown’s car came to him and he went by Rex Brown on lap ten to take the lead which he held the remainder of the race. Reid Wilson finished second. Cory Parham finished third. Garrett Smithley finished fourth. Dennis Kiser finished fifth.
