Justin Sorrow not only closed out the 2023 season at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, South Carolina with a win on Friday night, but also with a championship trophy.
The Belton, South Carolina native won the 50-lap Limited Late Model feature from the pole, and went on to score his third victory of the season at 3/8-mile paved raceway.
The win also gave Sorrow the division championship by 53 points over Magnum Tate. Sorrow’s title came on the strength of three wins, nine top 5’s, and 10 top 10 finishes in 10 features on the season.
R.A. Brown finished in second on Friday night, with David Roberts in third, Landon DeVaughn in fourth, and Archie Adams in fifth.
John Gallman, Gary Greenwood, Jr., Thad Collins, Ron Hall, and Ralph Carnes rounded out the top 10.
In other action, Zack Franks took home top honors in the BM Modifieds feature. Chuck Mitchell finished in second. Riley Gentry finished in third, good enough to wrap up the division championship by 41 points over fourth place finisher Scott Robinson. Gentry’s title came after a season that saw him record three wins, nine top 5 finishes, and nine top 10s on the year.
Joey Chitwood finished in fifth on Friday night.
B.J. Thrasher drove to the Mini Stock feature win. Ryan Howard followed in second, taking home the division title by 22 points over Chad Campbell in the process. Process scored five wins, nine top 5s, and 10 top 10’s on the season.
Tyler Sease finished in third, with Byran Mitchell in fourth, and Campbell in fifth.
Mitchell Thompson wrapped up a career season with his seventh US Legends feature victory of the season, taking the title by 67 points over Zack Alexander. Along with the seven wins, Thompson scored nine top 5s and nine top 10s on the season.
Jacob Wiedman, Alexander, Randy Gunton, and Brandon Johnson rounded out the top five.
Chandler Gallman took the victory in the Pure Stocks feature, with Spencer Darnell in second, Kyler Moser in fourth, and Jeffery Chandler in fifth. Chris Lawson finished in seventh, which was good enough to take the division title by four points over Gallman. Lawson was winless on the year, but nabbed the title on the strength of nine top fives and 10 top 10s.
Camden Esco edged out Jaylen Norris for the Young Guns feature victory. Katelynn Moon followed in third, with Jordan Kane in fourth, and Mckenzie Barbare in fifth. Kenzie Davis finished seventh, taking the title with two wins, six top 5s, and 8 top 10s on the year.
Robert Hall scored the Front Wheel Drive feature win and took home the title after a season that saw him take three wins, eight top 5s and eight top 10s. Kenneth Bearden finished second, with Dannon Esco third, Travis Shelton fourth, and Timmy Roe fifth.
