Carson Kvapil turned in a dominant performance on Friday night to score the CARS Late Model Stock Car victory for the CARS Racing Tour at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, North Carolina.
It gave Kvapil a sweep of series action at Ace Speedway after wining earlier this year at the raceway.
Kvapil led every lap when he won at the track back on May 5. Perfecting the clean sweep proved to be more challenging than Kvapil anticipated, but he fought off every challenge to re-establish the momentum he possessed at the start of 2023, when he scored three consecutive victories.
“It’s just awesome,” Kvapil said. “We came here earlier in the spring where I thought we had our most dominant performance of the year and maybe even with JR Motorsports. Coming back here, I knew we would have a really good car. We unloaded stupid fast in the first practice, but we just had to keep everything within reason.”
Kvapil’s biggest obstacle on Friday night was Brenden Queen, who had gradually erased his deficit in the point standings with a solid summer that included a victory at North Wilkesboro Speedway.
It took a restart for Kvapil to overtake Queen and pull away with the victory. Queen would then lose more positions during the final run of the night before fading to fifth, allowing Kvapil to further tighten his grip on the LMSC Tour championship.
Mason Diaz finished in third, with Ryan Millington in third, Kaden Honeycutt in fourth, and Queen in fifth.
Ronnie Bassett, Jr., Jacob Heafner, Landon Huffman, Trevor Ward, and Andrew Grady rounded out the top 10.
The next race up on the CARS Tour calendar is the Old North State Nationals at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Granite Falls, North Carolina, which was moved to Aug. 19 from Memorial Day weekend due to inclement weather.
