Bubba Pollard might not have had the fastest car in qualifying Saturday for this weekend’s events at CRA’s Speedfest at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA.
But the Senoia, GA speedster will start in the top spot in both the Rheem 150 Pro Late Model Feature and the Speedfest 200 Super Late Model feature on Sunday due to invert draws.
Hometown hero David Ragan not only turned the best lap in SLM qualifying, but he broke the old track record with a lap at 15.609, 92.254 mph. He was followed by Erik Jones, Kyle Busch, John Hunter Nemechek and Pollard.
A five was drawn on the invert, putting Pollard in the top starting spot, followed by Nemechek, Busch, Jones and Ragan.
Dawsonville, Georgia’s Chase Elliott turned the fast lap in Pro Late Model qualifying, turning a lap at 15.839, 90.915 mph. Daniel Hemric was second, with Pollard third, Brent Downey fourth and Ricky Brooks fifth.
Only the top 20 cars were locked in, with the rest of the field to be decided by a last chance race at 1:30 pm Sunday.
After qualifying, a three was drawn on the invert, putting Pollard in the top spot, with Hemric remaining in second and Elliott to third.
