Joey Schoen powered to the lead and never looked back en route to the win as Georgia’s Toccoa Raceway played host to the Sharp Mini Late Model Series on Saturday night.
Schoen, who hails from Swainsboro, Georgia, turned lap times in the 14-second range around the historic 5/16 mile clay speedway in a car that’s about 5/8’s of a scale to a standard dirt Late Model, powered by a 600CC Suzuki motorcycle engine.
Tyler Keel followed Schoen across the finish line in second, with William Horton in third, Brad Amerson in fourth and Ryan Brown in fifth.
In other action, Daniel Wilson scored the victory in the Limited Late Model feature. David McCoy followed in second, with Stephen Segars in third.
McCoy bettered his mark by one in the 602 Sportsman feature by taking the win. Mark Wilbanks came home in second, with Frankie Beard in third.
Chad Puckett won the Modified Street feature, as Billy Buffington and Tracy Addison rounded out the podium.
Bill Pulliam kept his hot streak going in the Pro Truck feature. The 74-year-old Toccoa, Georgia native added to his win total for the season, with Preston Nicholson finishing in second.
Randy Boshears scored the win in the Stock 4 feature, denying pole sitter Kevin Kelly a $175 bonus for dropping to the rear and coming back to win. Benji Stewart finished in third.
Dustin Moore scored his first career Toccoa Raceway Stock 8 feature win. Daryle Sutton finished second, with Chris Nation in third.
Tony Stevens was the winner in the Front Wheel Drive feature, with Jesse Smith second and Wayne Chapman third.
The National Vintage Racing Association was also in competition at Toccoa Raceway on Saturday night with a pair of features. Joe Cobb scored the win in the Open Wheel feature, while Brock Wise took top honors in the Full Bodied feature.
