Race fans will have to wait an extra day to find out who will be the latest winner of the Snowball Derby.
Rain has postponed the 52nd annual running of the asphalt Super Late Model event at 5 Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida to Monday.
Rains moved over the half-mile speedway just before driver introductions on Sunday afternoon. While several attempts were made to dry the track, including the use of a jet dryer from Darlington Raceway, the showers rolled through time and again.
Finally, just after 5 pm CT, race officials made the call to push the event to late Monday afternoon.
The new schedule calls for the green flag to fall at 4 pm CT, with 37 cars set to take the green flag.
Snowflake 100 winner Derek Thorn is set to bring the field to the green flag from the pole, with Cole Butcher on the outside of the front row. NASCAR Cup Series driver Corey LaJoie will roll off third, with Marietta, Georgia’s Kyle Plott fourth and Senoia, Georgia’s Bubba Pollard fifth.
Josh Berry, Matt Craig, Jeff Choquette, Casey Roderick of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Chandler Smith of Jasper, Georgia will round out the top ten.
