After several years of trying, Drew Collins finally made the trip to victory lane at Georgia’s Toccoa Raceway.
In fact, he did it not once, but twice on Saturday night at the historic 5/16 mile clay speedway.
Prior to Saturday night, the Auburn, Georgia racer had not won at Toccoa in any type of car or in any division. By the end of the night, that had changed, as he recorded victories in both the Limited Late Model and FASTRAK Pro Late Model features.
The first win came in the Limited Late Model feature, as Collins took the point when his cousin, Kenny Collins, was sidelined with a broken power steering/water pump belt. From there, Collins drove to the win over Wesley English in second and Bubba Russell in third.
In the FASTRAK Pro Late Model feature, it was again Drew Collins taking the victory, with Blake Craft finishing in second, followed by Chris Nickerson in third.
In other action, Rusty House topped the Safety Plus 602 Sportsman feature, beating out Crandall Turner in second and John Howard in third.
Sterling Helm was the winner in the Modified Street feature, with Sammy Calhoun and Calvin Miller rounding out the podium.
Kevin Kelly took the Stock 4 feature victory, making his first trip to Toccoa’s victory lane of the season. He was followed across the finish line Randy Boshears in second, with Ryan Crawford in third.
In the Toccoa Pro Truck feature, Terry Calhoun had a tire come off on the first lap in turn 4 and crashed hard into the outside wall. Calhoun had to take his truck to the pit area for the duration.
Bill Pulliam took control of the race and went on to score his second straight feature victory. Preston Nicholson finished in second.
Also taking his second straight feature win was Nathan Bowen, who recorded the victory in the Stock V8 feature. Ben Dunson finished in second, followed by Lisa Calhoun in third.
Jacob Kelly won the Young Guns feature.
Toccoa Raceway will play host to the Schaefer Oil Southern National Spring Series on Saturday, April 20. For more info, visit ToccoaRaceway.com.
