Ashton Higgins opened the 2019 racing season at Anderson Motor Speedway with a Late Model Stock Car victory at the Williamston, South Carolina raceway.
It marks the second career Late Model victory for the Weaverville, North Carolina racer at Anderson.
Trey Gibson held the point over the closing laps, but with five laps to go, Higgins closed on the leader. The two made contact, and Higgins was able to sweep into the lead. From there, Higgins drove to the win, with Gibson settling for second. Neil Meredith finished in third, with Brandon Lemke in fourth and Archie Adams in fifth.
Magnum Tate, Jake Garcia, Kenneth Headen, Nick Netchaeff and R.A. Brown rounded out the top ten.
In other action, Austin Northcutt held off Trent Smith for the BM Modifieds feature victory. Bryan Mitchell came home in third, with Adam Callaham in fourth and Will Ragsdale in fifth.
Ryan Howard was the winner in the Mini Stock feature, with Bobby Brock following in second. Ben Kay finished third, with Jeff Turner in fourth and Chris Whitfield in fifth.
Austin MacDonald took top honors in the US Legends feature. Janson Marchbanks, Randy Gunton, Karl Moberg and Russell Shore rounded out the top five.
Andrew Cordell recorded the victory in the Pure Stock feature, with Dereck Burgess in second, John Cordell in third, Jamie McCall in fourth and Chase Plesko in fifth.
Scott Parker was the winner in the Front Wheel Drive feature, followed by Manuel Molleda in second, Allen Porter in third, Josh Hamilton in fourth and Joshua Thomason in fifth.
