LaMance Takes Lavonia “Bash For Cash” Hobby Victory

With all the talk in racing circles these days about so called “Young Guns”, Labor Day was all about a veteran wheelman at Georgia’s Lavonia Speedway.

Long time dirt track ace Steve “Hot Rod” LaMance came home with the Hobby 602 feature victory on Monday night at the 3/8-mile clay raceway.

LaMance, from Six Mile, South Carolina, edged out Shun Thomas and former NASCAR winner Jeremy Mayfield en route to the “Bash For Cash” win. He pocketed a $600 payday for his efforts.

Chris Cape finished in fourth with Joseph “Booman” Galloway in fifth.

In other action, Andrew Cole scored the Crate Late Model win over Blake Craft. Parker Herring finished third, followed by Adam Smith in fourth and Nick Schlager in fifth.

Nathan Bowen was the winner in the Stock V8 feature. Jack Hill followed in second, with Nikoli Holcomb in third, Seth Brown in fourth and Kevin Rich in fifth.

Kevin Kelly topped the Stock 4 field to score the feature victory. Justin Taylor, Jamie Massey, Harley Holden and Elliott Brayboy rounded out the top five.

Preston Kelly scored the victory in the Beginner 4 feature, with Caylan Kettle in second, followed by Jacob Rohme in third, Tanner Nation in fourth and Alex Powell in fifth.

In the Front Wheel Drive feature, Hunter Anthony took the win over Wayne Chapman, with Michael Elrod third, North West fourth and Jason Richey fifth.

Kyle Gordon was the unofficial winner of the Modified Street feature, with Sterling Helm, Josh Thurmond, Tye Nalley and Johnny Pilgrim rounding out the top five.
