David McCoy scored the victory in Saturday night’s Midsouth Cage Equipment Limited Late Model feature at Georgia’s historic Toccoa Raceway.

But it didn’t some easy, as the Franklin, North Carolina driver edged out Clayton Turner by just a few feet to record the win.

McCoy started on the pole but was passed by Turner coming out of turn two on the first lap. Turner went on to lead 24 of the race’s 25 laps. But it was the final lap that told the tale.

Having to deal with lap traffic, Turner and McCoy raced into turn 3 side-by-side. As the duo battled off of turn four, McCoy was able to edge out front, barely beating Turner the checkered flag.

Turner, who had won the past two races Toccoa, had to settle for second. Mason Tucker finished in third.

The Stock V8 feature was also settled by a last lap pass. Ricky Jones and Hayden Collett battled throughout the 10 lap feature, with Jones edging ahead of Collett at the finish line to take the win. Ben Dunson finished third.

The Toccoa Pro Truck feature also came down to a battle on the final lap. Matthew Furgerson and Sterling Helm swapped the lead back and forth several times before Spud Nicholson powered past both of them to take the lead. Despite contact on the last lap between he and Furgerson, Nicholson went on to take the win. Furgerson came home in second, with Helm in third.

Nick Schlager bested FASTRAK Pro Late Model field, leading in qualifying before dominating the 20 lap feature for the win. Blake Craft finished in second, with Danny Sanders in third.

Crandall Turner took the victory in the Safety Plus 602 Sportsman feature, with Steve “Hot Rod” LaMance in second and Josh Thurmond in third.

Sterling Helm took the win in the Modified Street feature. Billy Buffington finished second, with Tracy Addison third.

Kevin Kelly topped the Stock 4 Cylinder feature, with Ryan Crawford in second and Randy Boshears in third.

Daryle Sutton took the win in the O’Reilly Auto Parts feature, followed by Michael Davis in second and Kenneth Taylor in third.

A last lap crash put Preston Kelly from Salem, SC into the wall just as he crossed under the checkered flag to take the win in the Kettle Construction Young Guns. Kelly won out over Kaylan Kettle and Koulten Herbert.

Toccoa Raceway will be back in action on Tuesday, July 3. For more info, visit ToccoaRaceway.com.
