On a big night of racing, Dustin Morris took home the big prize.
Morris led all 25 laps en route to the Alpha Art 602 Thunder Series feature at Georgia’s Toccoa Speedway on Saturday night, pocketing a $1,500 payday for his efforts.
Morris, from Inman, South Carolina, was dogged heavily by Justin Sims, who tried time and again to get the lead. Several times, Sims would pull alongside the leader, only to see Morris hold on to the spot.
In the end, Sims had to settle for second, while Nick Sellers finished in third.
In all, 132 cars turned out for Saturday night’s action overall, with 29 Alpha Art Series competitors coming out for the 24 starting spots on the grid.
In other action, David McCoy took the win in the Midsouth Cage Equipment Limited Late Model feature, collecting $1,000 for his efforts. Drew Collins ran second throughout the 25 lap feature, only to have his fuel pump belt break on the final lap. Mason Tucker inherited the second spot, Kip Cochran in third.
In the FASTRAK Pro Late Model 20 lap feature, Kenny Collins started on the pole but was passed by eventual winner Frankie Beard. Collins had to settle for second, while Peyton Freeman claimed third.
The best race of the night was in the Stock 8 division. Shannon Duck and Chris Cape raced door-to-door during the entire 10 lap feature. In addition to that it was side by side behind them as Buford’s Stephen House and Royston’s Jack Hill did battle with House finally winning that 2 car battle within the 10 lap war. When the checkers fell it was Duck, followed by Cape in second, with Stephen House third and Jack Hill in fourth.
Sterling Helm took the win in the Modified Street feature, leading every lap. Daniel Doster finished second, with Justin Sims third.
Helm also won in the Toccoa Pro Trucks feature. Charles Devine took second and Bill Pulliam finished third.
Kevin Kelly took home top honors for the Stock 4 division. Ryan Crawford and Jeffrey Lord were second and third.
Hunter Anthony was the winner in the O’Rielly Auto Parts Front Wheel Drive division feature. Justin Sorrow finished second, followed by North West in third.
Will Kettle scored the victory in the Kettle Construction Young Guns race. Logan Beard and Trent Blackwell rounded out the top three.
