Ross Bailes drove to the victory in Friday night’s FASTRAK Racing Series Bill Hicks Memorial event at 311 Motor Speedway in Pine Hall, North Carolina.
The win was worth $2,500 for the Clover, South Carolina driver, kicking off the FASTRAK Triple Crown.
With three wide racing over the opening five laps, Logan Roberson moved to the early lead, holding the point through a series of cautions.
Things boiled over on a lap 12 restart, when Darrell Dow lost power as a pack of traffic was bearing down on him, triggering an eight car pile-up. Among those involved were
Mitchell Coble, Michael Bland, Dustin Ferguson, Justin Wofford, Cole Apple, Randy Kinder, and Brett Hamm.
Back under green, Bailes, Benji Hicks and Roberson swapped position among the top three. The battle was interrupted on lap 36 by the final caution, setting up a four lap shootour.
On the restart, Bailes pulled away, and drove away to the win.
Roberson finished in second, with Hicks in third, Matthew Nance in fourth and Josh Henry in fifth.
Corey Almond, Bob Robertson, Dale Moore, Tyler Arrington and Tristan Clawson rounded out the top ten.
The FASTRAK Racing Series was slated to run on Saturday night at West Virginia’s Princeton Speedway and on Sunday at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia.
But wet weather led to the postponement of those events, with new race dates to be named in the future.
