Wayne Hale took the lead on the start of Friday night’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car feature at Tennesee’s Kingsport Speedway, and went on toe score the victory.
Zeke Shell was fastest in Late Model Stock Car qualifying at 15.033 seconds, with defending track champion Kres VanDyke close behind at 15.098. The top six from time trials were inverted, placing 14-year-old Dillon Hodge on the pole, with Hale to his outside on the front row.
Hale powered into the lead at the start over Derrick Lancaster, Shell, Hodge and Robbie Ferguson. The action was paused on lap 23 when Allen Hawkins slowed in a shower of sparks in turn two, bringing out what would be the only caution of the race.
On the restart, Hale once again grabbed the lead while the field jockeyed for position behind him.
From there, Hale would go on to lead flag-to-flag run en route to his first win of the season Shell finished in second, followed by VanDyke in third, Nik Williams in fourth and Ferguson in fifth.
Lancaster, Ronnie McCarty, Trey, Derek Lane and Bryson Dennis rounded out the top ten.
In other action, Joshua Gobble scored the victory in the Modified Street feature, with Trey Lane in second, Rusty Clendenin in third, Alan Rich in fourth and Chase Dixon in fifth.
John Ketron held off Brandon Sutherland for the Pure 4 feature victory. Craig Phelps finished third, with Josh Collins fourth and Alexcia Ray fifth.
Kevin Canter doubled up on the night, as he swept a pair of features for the Mod 4 division. In the first feature, Canter beat out Kirby Gobble, with Billy Duty third, Dennis Arnold fourth and Dalton Thomas fifth.
Canter held off Brad Ball for the win in the second feature, with David Brown in third, Duty in fourth and Chris Amburgey in fifth.
Rob Austin was the winner in the Pure Street feature. David Strong, Jason Herron, Brian Eggers and Penny Hurd rounded out the top five.
