Saturday night at Georgia’s Toccoa Raceway was special for a lot of reasons.

First was the speedway taking the time to honor some 20 youngsters with Autism.

Another was the 16-year-old first time winner in the FASTRAK Pro Late Model feature.

Sylvan Schuette, a high school student from Hiawassee, Georgia, claimed the win in the feature, and followed that with the traditional roll in the wet Georgia clay to celebrate a first time win.

Schuette, who is competing in his third year of racing, earned his first pole of his career during qualifying and led every lap of the 20 lap feature en route to the win. He followed that with a jubilant celebrated in victory lane with his father, Tom, and his mother, Erin.

Colby Cannon gained two spots during the race and finished second in second, followed David McCoy in third.

McCoy would go on to score the win in the Midsouth Cage Equipment Limited Late Models, dominating the 25-lap feature en route to the victory. Mason Tucker finished in second, while Drew Collins recovered from a spin on the opening lap to take home third place honors.

Crandall Turner topped the charts in qualifying and parlayed that pole position to the victory in the Safety Plus 602 Sportsman division. Rusty House, who had won the previous two races, finished second, followed by Thomas Riggins in third.

Sterling Helm took two victories on the night. Helm won the 15-lap Modified Street feature over Clarence ‘Smokey’ Roberts and the winner of the two previous Mod Street events, Billy Buffington.

Helm then bested Spud Nicholson and Bill Pulliam for the win in the 10-lap Toccoa Pro Truck feature.

A father & son duo were winners in their respective races. In the Stock 4 Cylinder feature, dad Kevin Kelly won over Harley Holden in a hotly contested race, with Ryan Crawford finishing third.

Earlier in the evening, 13-year-old Jacob Kelly topped the field in the Kettle Construction Young Guns division. Alyssa Conner finished in second, followed by Will Kettle in third.

The Stock V-8 division proved to be one of the most entertaining of the night. Although Stacy Watts started on the pole, the field got jumbled several times due to spins and some contact. When the final laps rolled around, it came down to a classic Ford vs. Chevy battle. Stephen House, in his Chevy Monte Carlo crossed the finish line just ahead of Hayden Collett in his red Ford Mustang. Ricky Jones followed in third.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Front Wheel Drive feature had many twists and turns throughout the 10 lap race among 14 competitors. Daniel Reynolds started on the pole but was passed by Tony Stevens. Stevens led the next six laps in a hard battle with Reynolds. At the checkers it was Reynolds who prevailed. Justin Sorrow finished second, with North West in third.

Toccoa Raceway will be back in action on Saturday, May 5. For more information, visit ToccoaRaceway.com.
