Josh Berry doubled up on Saturday night, as he swept both NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model features to open the 2018 season at North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway.

Berry would roll off from the third starting spot in the first 40-lap feature, with pole sitter Ryan Millington and Ty Gibbs bringing the field down to green. Millington and Gibbs put on a spirited battle for the lead, with Millington finally taking the lead.

It didn’t take long for Berry to assert himself, as he first overtook Gibbs, and then chased down Millington. The two would battle side-by-side starting around lap 15, with Berry finally moving to the point.

From there, Berry went on to score the victory, with Millington in second, Austin McDaniel in third, Gibbs in fourth and Jacob Heafner in fifth.

In the second feature, an eight car invert from the finishing order of the first feature put Sam Mayer on the pole, with Justin Johnson starting alongside.

Mayer would battle with Johnson over the opening laps before finally taking the top spot. Behind the leaders, Berry was again on the charge from the eighth position. Several laps later, Berry moved up to challenge Mayer for the lead, with Berry coming away with the position.

Berry went on to score his second win of the night, with Mayer, McDaniel, Millington and Johnson rounding out the top five.

In other action, Todd Bradburry took the win in the Cosmo Motors Street Stocks feature. Marshall Sutton came home in second, with Tory DeMarmels in third, Kevin Eby in fourth and Jesse Clark in fifth.

Allen Huffman took the win in the One Design Super Trucks feature, with Dakota Slagle in second, Charlie Neill in third, Sheflon Clay in fourth and Josh Stark in fifth.

In the Paramount Auto Group Limited Late Model feature, Pat Rachels scored the victory, followed by Brandon Lemke in second, Monty Cox in third, Mason Ludwig in fourth and Gage Painter in fifth.

Greg Austin was the winner in the Renegade feature. Kenneth Roberts finished second, with David Hasson third, Robbie Hollified fourth, and Robbie Larkin fifth.

Dennis Ward took the victory in the Carolina Custom Golf Carts 4-Cylinders feature. Donn Wardo finished in second, followed by Cody Combs in third, Brian Mundy in fourth and Robert Trivette in fifth.

Action is slated to return at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 24. For more information, visit HickoryMotorSpeedway.com.
