A pair of home state speedsters scored victories for the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Dirt Late Model Series at Georgia’s Senoia Raceway over the weekend.
Michael Page of Douglasville, Georgia captured his first career series victory on Friday, while Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Georgia took top honors on Saturday night.
On Friday, Page would jump out to the early lead over Dale McDowell, while McIntosh charged to third behind the lead duo.
By lap 11, the leaders found themselves in heavy lap traffic, allowing McDowell to close on Page. The two would race side-by-side on lap 18, with Page coming out on top of the battle.
McDowell soon found himself under pressure from McIntosh, as they battled for second with 10 laps to go. McIntosh would make the pass for the runner-up spot, only to see McDowell retake the position with just a few laps remaining.
Up front, Page drove away to the victory in a race that went caution free. McDowell finished in second, with McIntosh third, Casey Roberts in fourth and Brandon Overton in fifth.
Jonathan Davenport, Clint Smith, Austin Horton, Jason Hiett and Jason Fitzgerald rounded out the top ten.
On Saturday night, Donald McIntosh passed Overton on the final lap to score his third career series victory.
McIntosh and Overton brought the field down to the green flag for the start of the main event with McIntosh getting to the early lead. McIntosh would show the way until Overton made a power move in turn two to take the top spot on lap 32.
Overton held the lead going into the final lap, but McIntosh looked to the spot in turn one, only to have Overton drive back underneath, with the two racing side-by-side, splitting the slower car of T.J. Reaid.
McIntosh held on to the top spot coming off turn four to score the win. Overton had to settle for second, with McDowell third, Roberts fourth and Mike Marlar in fifth.
Michael Chilton, Earl Pearson, Jr., Page, Hiett and Davenport rounded out the top ten.
