Craig Vosbergen’s long quest for a Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series win is over.
The Perth, Australia driver notched his first-career American win after leading all 35 laps in an attrition-filled ending at Tennessee’s Crossville Speedway Thursday night.
In his third season on tour and after nearly 30 events, Vosbergen not only became a series winner, but takes home a $3,500 payday for his efforts.
He also becomes the 34th different winner in all-time series history. So far this season, there have been six new winners enter victory lane for their first series triumph.
“We’ve won nearly every big race there is to win back home,” Vosbergen said. “We’ve run this series for three years and worked hard, and tonight is the biggest accomplishment we’ve ever had in racing. It’s by far our biggest victory in racing.”
Vosbergen led ever lap of the 35-lap feature, holding off a tough challenge from Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh. In the end, Vosbergen had to battle with Ryan King and Ricky Weiss, but came out on top of the challenge.
Weiss finished in second, with King in third, Shanon Buckingham in fourth and Devin Gilpin in fifth.
Stacy Boles, Jordon Horton, Billy Ogle, Jr., Gavin Landers and Brandon Williams rounded out the top ten.
