Kres VanDyke claimed his sixth Late Model Stock Car win of the season Friday night at Kingsport Speedway in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Ronnie McCarty qualified on the pole position for the 75-lap feature. With an invert of five positions, Wayne Hale would start on the pole and Jeff Maupin on the outside pole.

On the first attempt to start the race, Hale would jump before the green flag waved, bringing the caution back and sending Hale to the rear.

Set for the second attempt to start the race, Maupin would take the lead on the start and pull away until lap four when McCarty spun between turns one and two. On the attempted restart, Maupin would jump the green flag, bringing out the caution and relegating Maupin to the rear.

Zeke Shell would choose the outside for the restart, placing VanDyke on the inside. With the green flag in the air, Shell would take the lead. Lap 35 would see the yellow flag displayed again when Robbie Ferguson’s car halted on the frontstretch.

Shell would regain the lead on the restart over VanDyke. Shell would cut a right rear tire at the entrance to turn three on lap 37, sending his car around and into the outside wall. Shell’s crew would quickly make repairs and have his machine back on track before the restart.

VanDyke would take over the lead on the restart and lead the remaining laps of the race, going on to score the victory.

“We had a great car tonight,” said VanDyke. “Just like they’ve done all season long, my crew did a great job.”

Hale finished in second, with Maupin in third, McCarty in fourth and Joey Trent in fifth.

Justin Fontaine, Ferguson, Shell, Derek Lane and Rick Pannell rounded out the top ten.

John Ketron took the victory in the Pure 4 feature. Jason Ketron finished in second, with Billy Byington in third, Chris Neeley in fourth and Bruce Crumbley in fifth.
