Danny Martin, Jr. Takes USCS Sprints Win At Needmore

Danny Martin, Jr. raced from the pole position to the victory in Friday night’s USCS Sprint Car Series feature at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Georgia.

It marks the 25th career series win for the Sarasota, Florida driver.

Even though he led every lap, the win wasn’t a slam dunk. Martin charged into the lead in turn one, but had to hold off repeated challenges from defending series National Champion Morgan Turpen. Following a caution on lap 17 that bunched up the field behind him, Martin, Jr. went on to score the victory.

“I really loved this race track, it’s really fast and a lot of fun,” Martin said in victory lane.

Turpen finished in second, with Terry Witherspoon in third, Terry Gray in fourth and Cumming, Georgia’s Brandon Taylor in fifth.

Nick Snyder, Danny Sams III, Brandon McLain, Jeff Willingham and Clint Weiss rounded out the top ten.

Gray kicked off the evening’s racing action by winning the Hoosier Tire Speed Dash. Snyder scored the win in the first heat, while Martin, Jr. claimed the checkers in the second heat.

Snyder was the provisional pole sitter after scoring the most passing points in heat race action, but, after a four was rolled on the inversion, Martin, Jr. received the K&N Filters Pole Award.
