Morgan Turpen Blasts To USCS Win At I-75 Raceway

Morgan Turpen made her first visit to victory lane in 2016 USCS Sprint Car Series competition Friday night as she scored the win at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, TN.

Morgan, from Cordova, Tennessee, charged from outside the front row past pole sitter Nick Snyder into the lead in turn one of the 30 lap main, and went on to score her eighth career series victory.

Anthony Nicholson, who started in third position, chased Turpen for most of the race, but had to settle for second. Derek Hagar finished in third, with Terry Gray in fourth and Marshall Skinner in fifth.

Brandon Taylor from Cumming, GA, Jake McLain, Danny Sams III, Brandon McLain and Snyder rounded out the top ten.

Because the event was both a USCS Mid South Thunder and USCS Southern Thunder points event, there were two Hoosier Speed Dash races, with Gray and Turpen splitting the wins. Nicholson scored a win in the first heat, with Hagar winning the second heat.
