R.A. Brown dominated the Late Model feature Friday night at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC, leading every lap to score the victory in the WESC, Anderson Jockey Lot sponsored second annual Rupert Porter Memorial Shrine Race.
It was the second win of the season for Brown.
Following the race Brown stated that he has driven some good race cars but this one was definitely the best.
“The car ran on a rail all night,” Brown said. “I couldn’t have asked for a better car. It did not matter what the situation, the car would go anywhere I wanted it to go.”
During the first part of the race Anthony Anders battled side by side with Brown a couple of times but he never crossed the start finish line in front of Brown. Near the end of the race David Roberts took over the second position and he also ran side by side with Brown a couple of times but failed to over take him.
Each time Brown was pressed he would pull away once again. Roberts finished second. Anders finished third. Justin Sorrow finished fourth. Neil Meredith finished fifth. Anders set the fast time with a qualifying time of 15.336 seconds. A three was rolled on the dice which put Brown on the pole. Although Anders failed to take the Shrine Race victory he did take the 2011 Anderson Motor Speedway Late Model Track Championship.
In other action, Ricky Burnett scored the win in the Talking Phonebook Renegade race. It marked the sixth victory in a row for Burnett and his eleventh win this season. Alex Guthrie led the first eight laps while Burnett battled his way to the front. Once out front Burnett was unable to pull away from the field. Guthrie pressed Burnett on lap thirteen, and as the two battled there was contact and both cars almost hit the wall which brought out a caution.
Burnett had to go to the rear while Guthrie went to the pits. Greg Darnell assumed the lead position following the incident and held the lead until lap eighteen. Burnett came from the rear and took over second on lap sixteen. Two laps later, Burnett drove by Darnell to regain the lead. A caution came out as soon as Burnett regained the lead. Following the restart Darnell ran side by side with Burnett for the next lap before Burnett nailed down the top spot for good. Darnell finished second. Shawn Campbell finished third. Chad Watt finished fourth. Blake Gregory finished fifth.

Andrew Cordell grabbed the lead at the start and appeared ready to take his first victory of the season. But Tollison had other ideas. On lap three, Cordell slipped up in turn four and Tollison took advantage of the mistake. Tollison drove under Cordell and took over the lead which he would hold till the checkered flag dropped.
Cordell put the bumper to Tollison the last lap of the race but Tollison held him off for the victory. While Tollison Sr. was battling for the win, Barry Tollison Jr. was battling with Phillip Peters for the third position. Tollison Jr. made repeated attempts to get by Peters but each time Peters would slam the door shut. Tollison Jr. finally made it by on lap ten, but one lap later, the two made contact and Tollison Jr. spun down the front stretch. Both went to the rear but within a couple of laps the two were battling for third once again. Tollison Jr. finally nailed down the position in the final turn of the final lap. Both drivers drove through turn three so hard that both almost wrecked each other before they reached the finish line. Tollison Jr. finished third. Peters finished fourth. Eddie Henderson finished fifth.
B.J. Thrasher was the winner in the B-Mini Stock feature. Rip Lockwood led the first eight laps of the race before Thrasher battled past him to take over the lead position. Chad Campbell moved to the second position a lap later, and although he ran with Thrasher the remainder of the race, he failed to make a serious bid to over take him. The victory was the first official win for Thrasher this season. Thrasher had received the checkered flag earlier this season but failed post race inspection. This time Thrasher took the cash home with him. Campbell finished second. David Darnell finished third. Rip Lockwood finished fourth. Ryan Lockwood finished fifth.
Brad Burdette was first to the checkered flag in the C-Mini Stock feature. Burdette and Russell Powell started on the front row, but Burdette jumped the start and had to go to the rear. Dylan Hall moved to the front and took advantage of his good fortune immediately. Hall built up a half a straight away advantage before a caution appeared, putting an end to his dominance. Following the caution Hall jumped back to the front and began to pull away once again, while Burdette was battling his way back to the front. On lap nine Hall’s car broke and Burdette assumed the lead position. Once out front, Burdette held off the rest of the field and took the victory. Brian Howard finished second. Zac Dillon finished third. Russell Powell finished fourth. Brandon Segars finished fifth.
Bryce Malcolm came out on top of the B-M Modified feature. Beanie Gillespie led the first seven laps of the race before he slipped in turn four, which allowed Malcolm to over take him. Once out front Malcolm held off Alan Mitchell and went on to take his first victory of the season. Malcolm became the seventh different driver to take a victory thus far this season in the B-M Modified division. Mitchell finished second. Casey Tucker finished third. Robert Marshall finished fourth. Tim Stokes finished fifth.
Reid Wilson picked up the win in the 600 Legends race. Rex Brown led the first seven laps of the race before he relinquished the top spot to Wilson. Once out front, Wilson gradually pulled away from Brown each lap thereafter and ended up taking the victory by fifteen car lengths. Rex Brown finished second. Taylor Griffith finished third. Cory Parham finished fourth.
Michael Staton claimed the win in the Front Wheel Drive feature. Tommy Davis led the first fourteen laps before he relinquished the top spot to Staton. For the first eleven laps of the race Staton had his hands full just holding off Newman Presnell for the second position. But once he put Presnell behind him, he immediately went after Davis.
On lap fourteen Staton drove past Davis to take over the lead. On the final lap Davis put the bumper to Staton trying to get him crossed up but Staton was able to keep his car under control and went on to take his fifth victory of the season. Davis finished second. Presnell finished third. Tim Ervin finished fourth. Travis Barbare finished fifth.
