Hodges Wins Outlaw Event At Watermelon Capital

While some tracks in the region fought the weather, it was clean and green racing at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele Georgia, as drivers in six divisions put on a show for the fans.

It marked the first night for the Georgia Fair Tax / David Ragan Ford Outlaw Late Model Series.  Valdosta’s David Hodges held off hard charges late by Steve Renner and Billy Chancey to win the event from the pole.

Hodges jumped out to an early lead, with Renner and Warren Mobley giving chase.  While Sammy Short and Steve Barker fought for position behind them, Mobley saw his bid for a victory come to an end with engine trouble.

Macon’s Kyle Bembry won in the Legends division, while Megan Younginer of Stockbridge took home the win in the Bandoleros.

Action is slated to return to Watermelon Capital on June 25, with racing scheduled in the Georgia For Fair Tax/David Ragan Ford Outlaw Late Models, Bandolero, Legends, Mini-Stock, Pure Stock, Claimer and Enduro divisions.
