Trey Gibson opened the regular season at Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC in high style Friday night.
Gibson, fresh off a win the week before up the road at Greenville Pickens Speedway, powered to the lead in the Late Model Stock feature, and then held off former AMS Late Model champion Justin Sorrow to score the victory at the 3/8 mile asphalt raceway.
David Roberts finished the night in third place, with Marietta, GA’s Cody Haskins in fourth and Kenneth Headen in fifth.
Kason Plott, Taylor Nesbitt, Mitchell Mote, fast qualifier Kyle Plott and Marty Ward rounded out the top ten.
In other action, Jason McDowell moved to the top spot in the BM Modified feature, and went on to score the victory over Shon Gibson. Austin Northcutt finished in third, with Mitchell Stone in fourth and Jamie Winslett in fifth.
David Darnell added another Mini Stock win to his overall Anderson tally, as he outdistanced Chad Campbell for the win. Mark Timmerman finished in third, with Colby Howard fourth and Ryan Lockwood fifth.
In Renegade action, Shawn Campbell topped the field to score the victory, with Shane Brown, Chris Whitfield, Billy Brown and Jack Robertson rounding out the top five.
Ricky Kelly crossed under the checkered flag first for the Super Renegade feature win. Ted Somero finished in second, with Michael Mote in third, Shaun Mize in fourth and Pendergrass, GA’s David Murphy in fifth.
In Legends action, Joe Osborne held off Justin Ashley for the victory. Randy Gunton finished third, with Cory Parham fourth and Rex Brown fifth.
Brian King picked up the victory in the Front Wheel Drive feature. Scott Parker finished second, followed by Michael Posey in third, Tommy Davis in fourth and Joshua Thompson in fifth.
Anderson Motor Speedway returns to action on Saturday, April 11, featuring the first appearance of the year by the Southeast Super Trucks in a 75 lap feature, along with racing from the Southeast Super Stocks, Vintage Cars, Mini Cups and Front Wheel Drives.
