Even an early spring cold snap couldn’t keep Josh Berry out of victory lane at Hickory Motor Speedway Saturday night.

Berry, in the JR Motorsports No. 88, claimed the pole in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Bojangles Late Models, and would drive away to score the win at the historic Newton, NC raceway.

Ashley Huffman would start on the outside of the front row, with Dexter Canipe, Jr. and Jacob Harrell in row 2 for the start.

Berry would jump to the early lead as the green flag waved, while battles raged for positions throughout the field. Canipe, Jr. would make his way by Huffman and began to challenge Berry in the early laps. Shane Lee would move by Canipe, Jr. and set his sights on Berry next.

The battle for third would also feature some tight racing late in the event with Landon Huffman working his way around Canipe, Jr. in the closing laps to take the position.

In the end, it was Berry securing the victory, with Lee in second, Huffman in third, Canipe, Jr. in fourth and Matt Piercy in fifth.

In other action, the T-Mobile Limited Late Models would see their first repeat winner of the year as Travis Byrd crossed the line first bringing home the trophy once again. Zach Bruenger would continue his hot streak and finish second, with Dylan Ward third, Jeremy Pelfrey fourth and Mitch Walker in fifth.

In Street Stocks, Dan Moore took his first victory of the 2015 season. Kevin Eby scored a hard fought second after getting by outside pole sitter Charlie Neill as the laps wore down. Marshall Sutton also slid past Neill late in the race to bring home the third position. Neill would cross the line in fourth, with Cody DeMarmels in fifth.

Kenneth Roberts scored the victory in the Wrench Rags Renegades feature. Roberts held off a hard charging Blake Walker for the win. Darren Dickinson finished in third, with Shawn Hayes in fourth and Ray Triplett in fifth.

The Classic Sportsman Racing Association returned with Don Fenn taking the win. Dennis Hinkle, Larry Benz and Bill Webb rounded out the top four.

Hickory Motor Speedway will be back in action on Saturday, as the PASS South Series bring the Super Late Models to the raceway for the annual Easter Bunny 150, along with racing from the PASS Pro Late Models, USAC Midgets, and US Legends.
