CARTERSVILLE, GA – Tyler Allen of Gulf Breeze, FL won a photo finish on Saturday night in the SEC co-sanctioned NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series race at Southern Raceway driving the Power House Motorsports Trak-Star. Allen beat Cody Smith of Holt, FL to the checkered flag by just a few inches.

Mother Nature once again played a big role shuffling up the Top 20 of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings after Week 14 competition. The top two drivers in the points chase, Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL and Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL have reached the 14-week mark of their respective seasons, and will now begin to net points.

There were 14 races on the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 schedule of events. Seven races were run, and seven races were rained out. Even with half of the races being washed out, seven of the drivers that started the week in the top ten of the point standings got a race under their belts.

Gauldin was unable to start the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model feature race on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Gauldin was forced to brake hard in hot laps to keep from getting into some cars that checked up in front of him, spun and hit the inside wall. That bent the front clip of his Adam Gauldin Racing GRT.

The point leader still earned 25 points in his 14th and final week to earn full points this season. That 25 will be the lowest weekly point total in his 14, so that’s what he will try to net on. A 50-point win would net him 25 points to his season total.

“I want to thank all of those that offered me a race car to drive, but we’ve repaired our car for this weekend and the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series race this Thursday night at Talladega Short Track,” Gauldin said. “The race car has a new front clip thanks to the efforts of Terry Smith at TSR Race Cars in Oxford, AL, my Paw Paw Donnie Elkins, my Crew Chief Richard Wolf, and my awesome crew.”

In 16 races over 14 weeks, Gauldin leads the battle for the $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship with 645 points after three wins, 11 top five finishes, and 15 top ten finishes in the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT. Gauldin holds an 11-point advantage over 12-year-old Cruz Skinner in the standings.

Skinner was able to close the point gap between himself and Gauldin with his third NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model win in the last four weeks at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Skinner Body Shop Special. Skinner has 634 points after three wins, seven top five finishes, and 11 top ten finishes in 17 races over 14 weeks. Skinner will now be trying to net on a 41.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 592 points, and still has one more week to earn full points. Lee has four wins, 14 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 18 races over 13 weeks. Lee finished eighth on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT.

Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS was unable to compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 action due to a rainout, but remains fourth in the standings with 546 points, and one more week to earn full points. In 14 races over 13 weeks of competition, Sanchagrin has three top five finishes and seven top ten finishes driving the Permanent Exterior Solutions Trak-Star.

Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is fifth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 539 points after one win, four top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 13 races over 12 weeks of racing. Combs finished tenth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track driving the Pro Grafx Special.

Heath Minor of Ralph, AL drove the Mike Minor’s Auto Repair Warrior to his fifth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model win of the 2014 season on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL. That moved Minor up to the sixth spot in the standings with 528 points after five wins, ten top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 12 races over 11 weeks.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS finished sixth on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star. Daspit is seventh in the standings with 524 points after five wins, ten top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 12 races over 11 weeks.

Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 action, and fell to eighth in the standings with 523 points. Bridgmon has three wins, 11 top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 13 races over 11 weeks driving the Robinson Electric Supply Special.

Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 508 points after one top five finish and seven top ten finishes in 13 races over 12 weeks of competition. Angle drove the J&S Racing Rocket to a ninth-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.

Lee Burdett of Bessemer, AL drove the FG Lumber GRT to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway to move up to the tenth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 471 points. Burdett has ten top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 11 races over ten weeks.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 14 action, Shep Lucas of McKenzie, AL drove the Lucas Racing Trak-Star to victory on Friday night at Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL in a race co-sanctioned by the South Eastern Crate Series. Chris Kratzer of Hayesville, KS picked up his second win of the season on Friday night at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS driving the O’Hara & O’Hara Special.

Greenville Speedway has announced that they will host a Week 14 Make-Up Race this Friday night, and will also present their regularly scheduled Week 15 race on Saturday night.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL increased their 2014 leading win total to 19 after Week 14 victories from Lucas and Allen.

Four-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Champ GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is second in the Manufacturers Challenge standings after Oberkramer gave them their 15th win of the season.
