With Mother Nature having put the kibosh on the Motorstats.com 4 Cylinder Bomber feature two weeks ago, drivers had two chances to visit victory lane in the division Saturday night at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL.
In the end, it would be Wayne Kissam and Jimmy Baker celebrating their respective victories in the double features.
In the first 4 Cylinder feature, Kissam and Richard Humfeld made up the front row. When the green flag waved it was Kissam leading the way until lap three when Gary Lucas slowed to a stop on the frontstretch. While under caution, Humfeld lost a wheel ending his race. When the green waved Kissam once again led the way with Darrell Taylor and Jimmy Baker on his back bumper. Kissam came away with the win, with Baker in second, John Moore in third, Raymond Vann in fourth and Taylor in fifth.
Raymond Vann and John Moore won the heats for the second 4 Cylinder feature, with Jeremey Douglas and Don R. Quinn making up the front row. Quinn led the first lap until a tie rod broke, sending him into turn one wall ending his night. Douglas also saw his night end after the wall while leading. Jimmy Baker would take over the lead and went on to win his second feature of the year as Michael Lacey, Robert Gullet, Sr, Raymond Vann and Wayne Kissam rounded out the top five.
In other action, Nicholas Snyder, Eddie Moss, Jr. and John Moss were the heat race winners for the Florida Mini Sprints, with Jodie McKenzie and Paige Moss making up the front row. McKenzie quickly took the lead, with the first caution flying for Andrew Keerjack as he stopped on the front stretch. Back under green, McKenzie continued to lead, with Eddie Moss, Jr. in tow. Eddie Moss, Jr. would sweep into the lead, and went on to score the win. Snyder finished in second, with Dirk Miller in third, David Hall in fourth and Connor Borah in fifth.
The Q Auto & Injury Street Stocks were up next with Dennis Wilson, Jr. and Brian Morgan winning their heat races. For the feature it was Buck Woodhouse and Justan Rodgers on the front row. Rodgers would lead lap one, but would have a set back as he came to a stop on lap three. Rodgers quickly went to the pits and came back out before the green flag. That would put Brian Morgan in the lead on the restart. On lap four Dennis Wilson, Jr. would spin out of third place in turn two. On the restart Thomas Burnide spun in turn four. Morgan would continue to lead until lap nine when Rodgers came back up front after starting dead last on lap three. Rodgers would continue the rest of the way to take the checkered flag with Thomas Burnside, Brian Morgan, Mike Wilson and Dennis Wilson, Jr. rounding out the top five.
The Gagel’s Open Wheel Modified feature saw Austin Sanders picking up the heat win and David Pollen, Jr. and Dale Kelley on the front row for the feature. When the green waved Kelley took over the top spot until Pollen, Jr. spun in turn two on lap one. On lap three, the action went three wide in turn four as Buzzie Reutimann, Kelley and Matt Miller stacked up, with Miller coming out on top. Miller would go on to win his second feature of the year. Buzzie Reutimann finished in second, with Roger Crouse, Dale Kelley and Bobby Dixon following.
The Limited Late Models were next as Roger Crouse and Jeremy Simpson won their heat races and made up the front row for the feature. When the green waved several cars tangled in turn one, setting up a complete restart. When the race resumed on the restart it was Simpson taking the lead until lap three when Dale Pope took over. Crouse would take over the lead on lap 10, and didn’t look back as he drove off to score the win. Rounding out the top five were Pope, Jesse Brown, Todd Ford and Miles Cox.
In Outlaw Fours action, Nick Hebrank won the heat race and Jesse James Foster and Billy Howard made up the front row for the feature. Foster led the first two laps until Howard took over the lead and never looked back. Foster finished in second, with Megan Meyer in third, Nick Hebrank in fourth and Chris Zimmerman in fifth.
ASA racing continues next weekend as it will be Breast Cancer Awareness night with the Late Models, Eagle Jet Top Gun Sprints, Q Auto & Injury Attorney Street Stocks, Outlaw Fours and Double Features for the V8 Warriors. For more info, visit eastbayracewaypark.com.
