Hot Temps, Hot Racing Forecast For This Weekend

The only thing hotter than the temperatures around the country this weekend will be the racing action on tracks all over the nation, starting this evening.

There’s something for fans of all kinds of motorsports this weekend, from drag racing in the Northwest to motorcycles in Alabama, with sports cars, short track action and big track mayhem slated as well.

Here’s a look at some of the racing action you can catch across the country and at a track near you:

Anderson Motor Speedway in Anderson, SC returns to action tonight, Aug. 5, with the return of the Late Models along with the regular racing program.  For more information, visit www.andersonmotorspeedway.com.

Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia hosts the next round of Friday Night Drags tonight, August 5. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and nightly drag race eliminations start after 9:00 p.m.  For more info, visit www.atlantamotorspeedway.com.

Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia hosts the Southern Region Racing Series Late Models, featuring $3,000 to win.  Also slated to race are Crate Late Models, A&B Hobby and Front Wheel Drives.  For more info, check www.boydsspeedway.net.

Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georiga features Ladies Night this Saturday, Aug. 6, with all ladies getting in to the track for $5.  The event features a full slate of local racing plus the Limited Late Model championship.  Visit www.dixiespeedway.com for more information.

-Racing continues this Saturday, Aug. 6 at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL, with action in the Late Model, Limited Sportsman, Hobby, Bomber, Modified and Road Warrior divisions.  For more information, visit www.eamsdirt.com.

Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, Georgia returns to action this Saturday night, Aug. 6, with a full slate of racing.  For more info, visit www.hartwell-speedway.com.

Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Georgia hosts the US Auto Sales Super 6 Back To School race on Saturday, Aug. 6, featuring twin 50 lap Late Model events, along with racing in the Truck and Legends divisions.  For more, see www.lanierspeedway.com.

NASCAR returns to action this week, as the Sprint Cup Series travels to Pennsylvania to take on the “Tricky Triangle” of the Pocono Raceway for the Good Sam RV 500 on Sunday.  The Nationwide Series is at Iowa Speedway for the U.S. Cellular 250 on Saturday.  The Camping World Truck Series returns to Pocono on Saturday for the Good Sam RV 125.  The K&N Pro Series West is at Colorado National Speedway for the Toyota/Napa Auto Parts 150 Saturday.  The Whelen Modified Series races on Saturday at Stafford Motor Speedway in the Town Fair Tire 150.  The Whelen Southern Modified Series heads to one of the top tracks in the southeast, Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC, for the Strutmasters.com 199 Saturday night.  For more info on any of these events, visit www.nascar.com.
