Young gun Dalton Davis from Millington, TN won the curfew-shortened United Sprint Car Series 360 Sprints feature at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN Friday night.
The story line was set as drivers were prepared to make their move to the front. The weather was perfect but the local sheriff pulled the plug at lap 15 to end what was turning out to be an exciting race on the high banks of 411 Speedway.
Davis survived two restarts and repeated challenges by defending series champion Tim “Crawdaddy” Crawley. Pole-sitter Anthony Nicholson held off a hard charging Derek Hagar for third while multi-time USCS champion Terry Gray came home in fifth.
Earlier in the evening the fans were treated to two K&N power dashes featuring the top 6 drivers from the last Mid-South and Southern Thunder races. The first K&N Power dash featured Anthony Nicholson from Bartlett Tennessee up on the wheel as Tim Crawley kept him in his sights. Jeff Willingham from Ripley, MS was third with Terry Gray, Derek Hagar and Ray Bugg following. Eric Riggins Jr. led flag-to-flag in the second K&N power dash for the Southern thunder region with Terry Gray nipping at his heals followed by Derek Hagar, Lance Moss from Cherryville, NC, Morgan Turpen and Tim Crawley rounding out the 6 car dash.
The Engler machine and tool Heat race No. 1 winner was Lance Moss and the Butler Built Heat No. 2 showed Benton Arkansas’ Tim Crawley in victory lane.
In USCS 600 Mini Sprint feature action, Chris Openshaw from Bessemer, Alabama and Matt McCullough from Atlanta, Georgia set the pace in a hard fought battle for the first six laps. Bobby Zaiontz moved his way into the second position on lap seven and dogged Openshaw the remainder of the feature race.
Openshaw would go on to score the win, with Zaiontz in second. McCullough finished a strong third followed by Mike Magic in fourth, and Shawn Nelson from in fifth.
The USCS will return to action later this month at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byrum, MS on May 25th for the 17th annual USCS Outlaw Thunder Sprint Car Speedweek. For more info visit uscsracing.com.
