With $5,000 to win on the line, the Ultimate Super Late Model Series thundered into Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA Sunday as part of the Late Model Mania event that saw action return to the North Georgia clay for the first time in three years.

With 20 drivers vying for the top prize, Chattanooga, TN’s Riley Hickman powered from the outside front row starting spot to the top spot in the 50 lap feature.  He would beat pole sitter Chris Madden by 6.266 seconds to score the victory in front of a near capacity crowd.

Mike Marler would come home third, with Senoia, GA’s Clint “Catdaddy” Smith in fourth and Blairsville, GA’s Jonathan Davenport coming across the line in fifth.

Logan Yates came across the finish line in sixth, followed by Casey Roberts in seventh, Dean Bowan in eighth, Tony Knowles in ninth, and Larry Timms in tenth.

In other action, Local hero Parker Herring, from nearby Hartwell, GA, led from the pole in the 40 lap FASTRAK Late Model feature, and went on beat out Elberton, GA’s Brent Dixon for the victory.  Herring not only got bragging rights, but pocketed the $3,000 for winning the series’ season opening event.

Dixon held on for second, with David McCoy in third, Chris Cantrell in fourth, and Lee Cooper in fifth.  David Smith, Dale Timms, Jensen Ford, Ron Parker, and Frankie Beard rounded out the top ten.
