Michael Lance proved to be the man to beat Saturday night, as Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA wrapped up their 2012 season.

Lance topped the Pro Late Model field in the season finale JEGS 50, beating out a strong field to score the victory over young standout Spencer Davis.

Max Gresham turned in the top speed in qualifying, but GMP veteran Lance led the field down to green due to an invert.  Lance would jump out front early, with Spencer Davis in pursuit.  Gresham would charge his way to third, with Kyle Plott giving chase.

The first caution of the event came out when Dale Tomazin spun off turn two, ending his night.  On the restart, Lance would jump back out front, with Fleeman moving to second.  Fleeman and Davis would fight back and forth for position, with Fleeman running the high line to hold off the 13-year-old wheelman.

As the 50 lap feature wound down, it was Lance in firm command, with Davis in second.  Fleeman began to fade, and with seven laps to go, R.S. Senter, Rodney Benefield and Kyle McCallum would find their way around the Dacula, GA driver.

Meanwhile Lance pulled away to score the victory.  Davis finished second, with Senter, Benefield and McCallum rounding out the top five.

Lance wasn’t the only winner in Pro Late Models, as Spencer Davis wrapped up the track points championship in the division with his second place finish.

In other action, Aaron Calvert came back from mechanical issues to score the Mini-Stock feature victory.

Scotty Beck started on the front row, and would work to hold off a hard charging Calvert for the first half of the event.  Smoke began to fill the driver’s compartment of Beck’s car at one point, but he pushed on.

Calvert makes his move just past halfway, sliding past Beck for the top spot.  Beck would continue to hound the leader, as Calvert’s car trails sparks.  A caution on lap 33 gave Calvert the chance to come to the pits to fix an issue.  On the restart, Calvert jumped from fourth to second, and he and Beck did battle for the lead.

With three laps left, Calvert finally cleared Beck for the top spot.  Coming to the finish, Beck suddenly lost power, ending his bid for the win.  Calvert scored the win, with Dion Ciccaelli, Allen Cantrell, Beck and Brandon Amos rounding out the top five.

In the Sportsman feature, Jackie Daniel and Jeff Chadwick put on a great side-by-side battle for the top spot before Daniel moved away into the lead. The two leaders would do battle throughout the event, with Daniel coming away with the victory.  Chadwick finished second, with Brian Sosebee in third.

In the Renegade feature, it was Mike Childers scoring his second straight victory, with Rob Hubbard in second, Brian Beckner in third and Boo Carlisle in fourth.

Jason Bates led the Outlaw Late Model field to the green flag, and would hold the lead early in the going.  Russell Fleeman gave chase throughout the event, while Todd Vanderford and Matthew Wragg did battle behind.  In the closing laps, Fleeman found himself trapped behind a lapped car, and that was all Bates needed to move away for the victory.  Fleeman finished second, followed by Vanderford in third, Lee Langford in fourth, and Matthew Wragg in fifth.

The longest feature of the night went to the Trucks, who did battle for 75 laps on the Jefferson high banks.  The action got underway early when Emilee Riley and Joel Townsend made contact, sending Riley spinning on the first lap.  She would lose several laps in the pits, but would return to action.

Meanwhile, after a couple of races out of the cockpit, Cody Haskins jumped out to a commanding lead, as Spencer Davis, who had called Haskins out after a recent win, ran second.

A tangle in turn one involving six trucks brought out the second caution of the night.  Among those involved were Andy Gaddis, Kevin Vassar and Trevor Shirley.

Meanwhile, it was smooth sailing for Cody Haskins who moved away for the victory.  Davis finished second, followed by Ronnie Wehunt in third, Joel Townsend in fourth and Emilee Riley in fifth.

The Truck results remained unofficial as of Thursday.

Track Championships were also awarded on Saturday night.  Along with Spencer Davis wrapped up the Pro Late Model title, Aaron Calvert won the Mini-Stock championship,  Jackie Daniel won the title in Sportsman, Mike Childers was the Renegade champion, and Matthew Wragg scored the Outlaw Late Models title.

Cody Haskins will be the Truck champion, contingent on the Truck results remaining as they are.

Bubba Pollard scored the track’s Super Late Model title a few weeks back.
