Benjamin Fastest In All American 400 Qualifying At Nashville

Kyle Benjamin beat all comers in qualifying for Saturday’s All American 400 at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway Friday night.

Benjamin, of Easley, SC, toured the legendary 0.596-mile track with a lap at 18.194 seconds.  He was followed by Tennessee native Willie Allen with an 18.271 mph.  NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch turned in the third fastest time with an 18.271.  Second generation racer Ross Kenseth was fourth quick with an 18.274, and Daniel Hemric, piloting the car he won the CRA JEG’S 100 at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA last month, rounded out the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 on time was Kyle Grissom, Eddie Hoffman, Trey Mitchell, Preson Peltier, and Nate Caruth.

The top ten drew for starting spots, with Hoffman drawing the first spot.  He will be followed to the green flag by Caruth, Mitchell, Allen, Benjamin, Busch, Kenseth, Peltier, Hemric and Grissom.

Other notable qualifiers included Senoia, GA’s Bubba Pollard in 16th, Mike Garvey in 19th, second generation Nashville racer Clay Alexander in 22nd, two time Daytona 500 winner and two time Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway champion Sterling Marlin in 23rd, 2010 All American winner T.J. Reaid in 26th, and 13 year old Spencer Davis from Dawsonville, GA in 31st.

Grandstand gates for tomorrow’s All American 400 open at 11:30 AM, with Last Chance Races for the PASS South Super Late Models at 1 PM, a 125 lap championship race for the Hunter’s Sand & Gravel Pro Late Models at 2:30 PM, and the green flag for the 28th All American 400 at 6 PM.
