Mid-Week Mayhem Roars Into GMP Wednesday Night

When the Pro Late Model Field rolls off on Wednesday, July 20 for the first of two mid-week shows at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Georgia, it will be a return to a longstanding North Georgia tradition.

GMP will host Midweek Mayhem presented by Simpson Trucking and Grading and Davis Poultry Equipment that night as race fans in the area get a chance to go back out to the race track during the middle of the week for the first time in a long time.

It wasn’t that long ago, however, that race fans would catch races four and five times in a single week, following drivers like Bud Lundsford, Tootle Estes, Bobby Whitmire, Buck Simmons and others to legendary tracks like the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, the Athens Speedway, the Toccoa Speedway and the Banks County Speedway night after night.

The names may have changed, but the action is expected to be just as fierce as it was for those hall of fame drivers.  Headlining Gresham’s Mid-Week Mayhem will be a 40-lap Pro Late Model feature, with names like Bubba Pollard, Dwayne Buggay, Russell Fleeman, Greg and Shawn Simpson, Gus Dean, Eric Wallace and more slated to do battle on the Jefferson high banks.

To help keep the cost down for race teams, cars will be limited to just two new tires for the night.  But that’s not expected to slow the action down for one second.
