Hodges Scores Fourth Straight OLM Win At ‘The Melon’

Racers and fans at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA have got to be wondering if there’s any way to beat David Hodges.

The Valdosta, GA racer again topped the Outlaw Late Model field Saturday night to win his fourth straight feature. Billy Chancy came home second, with Steve Barker finishing third, Kyle McCallum fourth, and Josh McCallum fifth.

Hodges isn’t the only one on a winning streak. Cody Hale recorded his sixth straight and seventh overall victory in the Enduro feature. Michael Hutto followed Hale to the finish line. Jimmy Nasworthy was third, with James Yawn fourth, and Justin Duckworth fifth.

In other action, Anthony Bustamante was first across the finish line to score the Mini-Stock feature win. James Pennington, Banks Perdue, Ricky Sanders, and A.W. Napier rounded out the top five.

In the Legends feature, Alex Coffey scored his fourth victory of 2012, with David Hodges finishing second in his Legends car debut. Blake Gaither finished third.

Taylor Jorgensen came away with her second straight Bandolero Outlaw win. Jensen Jorgensen ran second, with Katelyn Weatherly third, Jordan McCallum fourth, and Mark Younginer fifth.

Ashton Winger crossed under the checkered flag first to pick up the Bandolero Bandit feature win. Connor Younginer, Lawson Ingold, Lee Hodges, and Abby Marin closed out the top five.

In the Go Kart feature, Jeff Smith scored the win. Dillon Bailey was second, Doug Sannaman third, Dawn Brackett fourth, and Mike Coonfield.

Action returns to Watermelon Capital Speedway on July 28 with the $800 to win Enduro Shootout, along with regular racing in Go Karts, Bandoleros, Mini-Stocks, Legends, and Super Streets. For more info, visit www.watermeloncapitalspeedway.com.
