For fans this Wednesday night, it will be a throwback to the days of old, as Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA holds their second and final mid-week race on July 18 at the venerable old Georgia speed plant.
The track, which has historically hosted many mid-week races over the years, will be the site of the JEGS Pro Late Model 50, a 50-lap event for Pro Late Models. It’s an event designed to give fans and drivers a little taste of great racing halfway trough the week.
It wasn’t that long ago that race fans would catch races four and five times in a single week in the state of Georgia, following drivers like Bud Lundsford, Tootle Estes, Bobby Whitmire, Buck Simmons and others to legendary tracks like the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, the Athens Speedway, and the Banks County Speedway night after night.
The names may have changed, but the action is expected to be just as fierce as it was for those hall of famers. Last year, Gresham played host to two Mid-Week PLM events, with fans being treated to some of the best racing of the season, with Michael Lance and Jerick Johnson scoring the wins.
